Default Reshaped Elise

Finally found time to show you how not to drive a sports car.

This is what happens to a fibreglassed car when driving in the wet.

Lost it on a shicane and then skated 360's down the road before hitting a tree. Fortunately no damage to persons - good job as my son was in it at the time.

Note: At $15,000 to fix this, I think I'll stick with the Cobra.

Bloody awful cars for getting in and out of anyway.

Better pic - unless you own the car!

Peter - having met your son a few months back, I can just imagine what was happening over there.

It's not like he would have been egging you on to go faster, would he ?!?

Whose car was it? Did you have any insurance dramas?

I bet the guys that go to regular track days over there have already taken molds for future repairs of their panels if that's what Lotus charge for genuine parts.

It was my wife's cousin's car and no I wasn't driving.

I'd already been out in it in heavy rain! Certainly goes although it feels like you're sat in a sardine can.

No impact on insurance as his no claims was protected.

If you get a chance to sit in one, try it out - the strangest thing I've been in at speed.

On the bright side at least the lotus badge was intact!

If youire going to repair it yourselves ( and at protected insurance I wouldnt) dont bother trying to get the new fibreglass front from the UK. Elises are made by the owners of Lotus in Korea ( I think its Hyundai) and I bet the bits are far cheaper there than here..

Cheers,

Tony

Told you you should have come down the M1 a ways to see a decent UK Cobra! Glad you got out Ok anyway.

Lotus Elise parts ridiculously expensive here. These cars have amazing roadholding - but try to catch one when it lets go.
