Smile Overseas parts arrived!

Hi all,

Just thought I would let people know here in Aust. a few things about ordering their bits and pieces from USA or UK. This is for the people that have been thinking about ordering or have never ordered stuff from OS.

About three weeks ago I ordered a few items from the UK (Europa Spares) They arrived within a week! Had problems initially with their online ordering system - so I emailed them directly, placed my order and sent my credit card details over via an encrypted 2 stage message (call me paranoid or smart!) The parts are great and a good quality. The parts I ordered from the UK were not available from the US suppliers, or I couldn't find them. The small package was sent registered post via air freight.

The same time I ordered from the UK I ordered a few items from USA (Finishline) They have only just arrived - today! Made the BIG mistake and did not ask them to sent them via air freight.... instead they came snail mail - UPS. Although air frieght is a little bit more expensivie its worth it for small items. The largest item I ordered was the wind wings and sun visor set.

I have dealt with UPS many times and on all occaisions have found them utterly useless and very unfriendly - here in Australia that is.

I am extremely pleased with my goods from Finishline - very nice quality products........opening the box today was like Christmas time but its only May! I am not blaming Finishline for the slow delivery.

During my day job I deal with this sort of thing all the time. I work for the Australian Quarantine & Inspection Service and have dealings with Australian Customs often.

I paid 5% duty on the USA items then the 10% GST ontop. But when you do the sums of what I purchased it still worked out cheaper than buying in our own back yard at the moment. On the UK items I paid zero duty and zero GST. Lets hope the Auzzie dollar keeps performing.

My final word of advice is: if you order small bits from overseas get it sent registered post and airfreight.

Cheers
Lyn
Great Mothers Day Present - wind wing set, chrome hinges, snake emblems, AC pedals etc etc etc!!
