Hey Craig,
I thought you had a wiper problem, not a fuel one:p Apologies for going off the topic, but how's the handling issue going? I have a solution, swap the motor for my windsor and use the scoop for extra storage;) |
Bathrone - I didn't respond to your interesting point about the injectors. Does the Autronic "injector control" vary the peak current depending on engine load? The Motec can individually trim cylinders, control pulse widths, compensate for various engine temps, fuel temps and pressures, air temp, battery voltage etc. My 96 lb/hr injectors aren't as big as those big mother 160 pounders in the rotary, but my car idles like a stocker with the 96s and a "large" camshaft. The Motec can be configured to operate rotaries or piston motors with nothing more than a drop-down box, but I won't give you grief over it ;) I know that Autronic and Motec are very similar in many ways, quite different in others, but at the end of the day they are the only two engine management systems that I'd ever use. Do you have the serial number of the unit so that Autronic tech can ID it?
Peter - the Motec's staying, I'm just planning on getting some parts together for the next project... Interesting storage option - probably better than those chrome boot racks that the MG guys seem to use so often ! Mike - I often don't like when topics stray, and my Autronic questions don't have a whole lot to do with your fuel rail mod, but at least it keeps the thread up at the top of the page to give everyone a chance to see your handiwork ! |
I quite like it when threads stray since they often go into interesting areas that you often don't think of discussing.
It's good to know a little about what the different after market ECUs can do. I only stick the pictures up to give people ideas of the kinds of things you can make when you put your mind to it. I get a lot of satisfaction out of thinking how to do a job and then having the finished product work out. Cheers |
750hp the Autrnoic does all the correction maps like battery voltage, coolant etcetc. These are all well documented and you can research what features you want to compare. In general youll find they are pretty similar, except the new motecs can do VVT and electronic throttle whereas I dont think the SM2 supports that but I could be wrong.
What the Autronic delivers that no other ecu does, is the fine injector control. Theres something about the injector drivers. Its just amazing. As soon as you get into really low millisecond range of injector actuation every other ecu will just run the motor crap. With the Autronic you can way way down there and still idle nice on seemingly asburd primary injector sizings. The Autonic is also better in terms of RFI. The Motecs will certainly work but especially the new digital ones Ive heard reports of them being very sensitive to RFI and people having to redo their setup to overcome noise. If I had a car that featured VVT and electronic throttle I'd get a Motec, otherwise I'd get an SM2 due to the injector control benefits and still having all the other things like different boost in different gears, traction control, antilag etcetc. Check your PMs for my serial # |
