Default Looking for ls1 alternator in OZ

Hi
Just wondering if any of of you guys in australia that have or are using an imported LS1 would have or know where I can get a alternator of a corvette as the Holden one is not compatible with my supercharger mounting brackets.

I have tried my usual contacts but no luck so far.

Guess that's one of the problems with the GM engine - no parts readily available

As apposed to a Ford where the parts are available but you need a mortgage to pay for them

Have you tried Suburban Imports in Sydney:

Hi Craig
I have same imported LS1 as you and mounted a Holden alt. down low to get it out of the way. I machined up barckets in alu. which wasnt much hassle and I think would give you plenty of room for the h/dryer. Look in my gallery for a pic of the alt. I just posted. or try clicking link below (not sure if it will work as dont know how to add link to a thread??

Hi Leeroy
I have already ran the cobra with the alternator in the same spot as you but the Vortech supercharger mounting bracket (cast ally) only alocates for the corvette alternator and it is mounted up near the engine oil filling cap.

Thanks any how

Would be lucky to get one here.

I would start contacting suppliers in the US and just bring one over.

Maybe try searching/posting on vette forums.

Sorry can't be of any more help.

PCC, same problem with Toyota(so called Lexus) engines. If you take alternator for example, parts are expensive and replacement alternators very hard to find. You are better off adapting something else to fit. Import engines do have some warts.

Craig (400TT),

I know what you mean with Toyota......

I own two Toyota's and any parts other than servicing can only be sourced from Toyota.

I think it is their way of ensuring continued profits after the initial vehicle sale.

An example is $135 for a replacement roof aerial for an Echo - rip off or what
