If only my cobra was rolling!!

Does $1100-1350 for a lsd AU rear sound right anyone?
I have found a couple and are not sure if I am on the money.
Lots of places are selling just the centres for $650, and you would think the rest would only be spare bits and not of that much use to anyone.

Anyway has anybody got a source for a cheaper item?

Gav

Gav,

This one was up on ebay a few months ago and went for a bit of a bargain by the looks of things. Down in Melb too. Bummer.

I paid $1250 from a wrecker in Melbourne. I was told it had done 32000 kms. When it arrived it looked mint, no rust just dirt. Had the diff inspected, everything was fine.
If its any help Ive got Upper and Lower Arms for each side you can have. Last year around September CBC bearings on South Rd. had the complete half shaft assembly including axles on special for less than $200 per side. The only thing youll be missing are the brake assemblies.
The cost of a complete NEW rear end which comes bolted to a cradle was just under $5000 when I started 2 years ago.

Regards.

Depends what car it came from. All XR8s were LSD, where as most Fairlanes and LTDs came without LSD but was an option which some people put in.

Regards.

I have priced the complete rear end from Titan Ford in Brookvale and it is $6,547.73 (inc GST). Looks like I am off to the wreckers :-)

Hi Shelby 400,

Yep mate, I am a northern beaches man. Reside in Harbord about 3 blocks from the beach. You obviously live in Sydney from your Bio. Lovely day to day ??? :-)

We picked up the rear end complete unit yesterday from a wrecker out in Camden.

Churchy,

Dont take all the good parts from out my way . Was it hard to find a good rear end from a wrecker?

Cheers

Tenrocca,

Got the part from Macarthur Parts Plus. He said that he gets them quite regularly and that he is the guy that Ian puts most people onto. We found him quite by accident. He is at Smeaton Grange, basically between Narellan and Campbelltown. He actually had 2 at the time, however the second looked like it needed a bit of work.
