CR arrives next Saturday
Got an email from Ian, saying that the chassis will be ready to pick up at the end of this week. Yipee, now the fun really begins.
Also had a look at an LS2 at Eagle auto last week. Being that the throttle body is fly by wire, does anybody know if you can adapt an LS1 mechansism to it ? |
Hey there churchy, I have an LS1 throttle body your welcome to if you want it.
|
Congratulations Churchy!!
LS2 has a 90mm throttle body where the LS1 only has a 75mm one. Unfortunately they are also a different bolt pattern on the manifold. Cheers |
Thanks for the offer guys. I am a long way away from an engine (probably 12 months at least), but wanted to understand if the LS2 was an option, which it seems it may be.
Can't want to start bolting bit's to it to have a billy cart, then the overpowered go kart later on |
You will enjoy sitting in the chassis and making noises.
Just wear a bib to catch the spit and dribble. |
I may have to go and record some Cobra's at a race day or s skid pan day and put the recording through the ghetto blaster in the garage.
Does anybody have any dimension drawings for the rear shock mount brackets for the CR. I could buy them front Ian, but I am going to have to get my welding skills back up to scratch (sit on an office these days), so I would like to make them myself. Any help, suggestions or sledging greatly appreciated |
Here is a picture from my gallery showing the lower shockie mount, I have made my mounts so the shockie is moved further inboard.
I feel that I am going to have to get stiffer rear springs than where recomended by Ian, this I suspect is due to leverage affect of moveing the pivot inboard. The springs as recomended are probably ok if you mount the shockie straight above the normal mount. http://www.clubcobra.com/photopost/d...64MVC-002S.JPG In this second pic you get a better idea of how much further inboard they are mounted http://www.clubcobra.com/photopost/d...rake_pipe2.JPG While everyone is looking at this picture can you all give me your opinions regarding the fact that I have applied urethane to the mount between the control arm and the mount, I left the car with full weight overnight to allow the urethane to dry. I did this as in normal driving position all the weight of the vehicle is transfered through the control arm but when lifting the vehicle of the ground the mount would lift away from the control arm by approx 3mm. Now nothing moves. Thoughts and ideas would be appreciated. |

I have a couple of photos in my gallery of the rear mounts. I have drilled and tapped a m8 bolt to secure it. Congradulations and have fun I am!!!! Gav |
Here's some pics of my rear shock mounts. A bit of a different approach to Davids but they seem to work OK. Once the bolt goes in they don't budge a milimeter.
Thbody of the mount is made from a section of tube that has the same ID as the OD of the knuckle on the lower control arm. It's a very snug fit over the knuckle. http://www.clubcobra.com/photopost/d...mount3-med.jpg http://www.clubcobra.com/photopost/d...mount2-med.jpg http://www.clubcobra.com/photopost/d...mount1-med.jpg On this last one I've modified the brackets where the shock mounts to so as to bring the bottom of the shock in a bit. I didn't have much clearanve left onec I fitted the 11" rear rims. http://www.clubcobra.com/photopost/d...ount31-med.jpg Cheers |

Will post pictures of Pete and I sitting in the chassis next to the magic fridge, just dribbling... Boxhead, we have decided not to go for bibs, want to get the whole dribble.. vroom, vroom experience. |
