Thumbs up Bernies photos from London Ohio #2 the GT40

I have 'Posted" a Thread over on ALL COBRA TALK about the 6000 mile trip in the Gt40 and some of the fun we had with travelling across America.

Thought I would add one or two photos from the GT40 and of the GT40.

The GT40 is owned by my friend Hershal from Phoennix, Arizona.

Hershal is the Roarin Forties distributor in America. Robert Logan from Roarin Forties who sponsored the Shelby event in Australia is a long time friend and assisted me in getting this trip organised. Roberts advice on packing for the trip and driving the GT40 was very helpful. As I said it was a great trip and the GT40 was a pleasure to drive.

There's nothing like driving down the freeway at 80 - 90 mph on the wrong side of the road passing semi trailers etc...

The GT40 shortly after we arrived in London Ohio. With just over 3000 miles covered so far.

My rear view out over the eight trumpets as I left the Arizona Hills to head down to Heber and Baseline in Arizona. This view is just great and listeningv to the 400hp is music.

Well we are home on the front lawn in Phoenix, Arizona. It's 112f and the GT40 is washed and ready again. We did not have a problem with the car. I hit a small box on Route 66 which blew out onto the road and the scrapping sound was like a heater hose going off. Luckily we soon realised it was a box that blew out from uinder another car.

The following morning we headed to California Speedway in Fontana for the Shelby American event - SAAC.

See the "Thread" on this on ALL COBRA TALK.

As I have previously said on the ALL COBRA TALK Thread - '6000 miles in a GT40' the trip was un eventful. It was very comfortable to be in the GT40 and visibility was great. It was also easy to drive. This particular car does not have a "Guerney" bubble or the dropped floor as the newer Roarin Forties models now have a dropped floor.

My thanks to Hershal the US distributor and Roarin Forties Australia and USA.

Cheers

You forgot this pic of you and Hershal at about 120 MPH on 71 West going to the parade.

This was before I lost the clutch.

Do you have the shot of us?

Bern,

Thanks for all the pics - you sure are having a good time across in the little ol US of A!

So when you get back will the engine be ready, or will you have to hitch a tow for a few weeks?

Maybe, the Cobra is going to be sold and a GT-40 is next on the drawing board.

You sure look cosy in there - whose hand are holding your camera?????

Peter,

Dad will not be buying a GT40 any time soon... although he and I would love to start one in the next few weeks Im sure... he has a date with Better Bathhrooms & Kitchens (name?) that I think mum would love to hold him too...

Maybe Dad will have to live out his GT40 aspirations through me - and I'll have to start working my aaarrrssse off to be able to afford one in the next 10 years

They are definitely dads hands very few people have hands as big as Mike Tyson.

Hi all,

Well back safe at home now.

The flight over was good but Sydney saw us all being hit by a storm as we approached. After two circles over Sydney we finally landed in sunny!!! Sydney.

Didn't think a jumbo could be thrown around so much. Well two hours later we were out of Sydney and back to Melbourne.

Had a great trip. Thanks to all in the States for making me so welcome.

Cheers

Bernie
