Hey Ledge
Hey there Ledge, I was just taking a peek at your pictures in your gallery.
I must say your a braver man than me with the positioning of your jack stands under the Brake rotors. I see it is this way in just 1 picture but the stands could very easily slip out from this position. |

Looks ok to me, its just one shot.... nice car BTW. |
Hi Boxhead ,
I had them positioned there to measure my wheel ofsets correctly i found it was the best spot to put the stands to get the suspension to sit at the right height Paul |
Ledge
just had a quick look thru your pics also and Its just looking fantastic. Love your aluminium sheet metal work in the boot & engine cover too. Did you carpet yours? I did mine & it wasnt as bad as I thought it would be, just little bits at a time. Looking awesome Legde Leeory |
ps/
what colour centres will you do your wheels?? decisions decisions!! |
Hey Ledge...LOVE the colour of ya car.
Did ya pick that colour cuz ya park it under a mulberry tree? Looks very Kewl. |
I was refering to this picture Todd.
http://www.clubcobra.com/photopost/d...CN1239-med.jpg Yes I can understand now that you have said that Ledge. Just dont leave it that way as I am fairly sure the disks where you have the stands is tapered (could be wrong) I have also seen plates made that bolt onto the wheel studs used as stands |
Leeroy
I want them polished but peter has said because of the magnesium in the centres they may not polish up to good so if that fails i will be sending them to Geelong Chrome FX where they will put on a chrome paint finish that is identical to chrome We have used them for stuff at work and it is an amazing finish. Rebel Yeah mate thats all i done just put it under a tree and let natue do the rest  But seriously it is a modified nissan colour and yes i am very happy with how it came up Boxhead Yeah i was going to make up the same thing but couldnt be bothered they where only sitting like that for a few hours so shouldnt be a drama and it didnt fall off Regards Paul |
By the way Ledge I havent said yet it is looking damn good.
You are making me jealous with the speed in which you are getting there. |
Leeroy
yes i did do the carpets as you said it is quiet easy just takes alot of time especially up in the footwells , My back is still a bit stiff . Boxhead Yes i have come to a point where i just want to get it finished and i am putting alot of hours into it to do so .The misus is starting to get a bit pissed of with the amount of time im in the shed but tuff titties hey. All i really need to do now is wheels and finish the leather door trims and dash panel which i should have done before i get the wheels and make up some heat sheilds for the side pipes so hopefully in about 6 weeks it should be close Either that or the misus will be hitting me with something Regards Paul |
Ledge,
Nice job I'm very jealous. I havn't had the time to do anything for yonks. I'm never building another house again!!! (The shed was built ages ago) Gav |
Hi Ledge, car looks great, are you planning to go to the nationals with it? Ill be up your way in the next couple of weeks, Ill give you a call and see if your about the place.
Regards. |
Mando
Hi mate, have not seen you here for a while. How's progress with your build? |
Hi Bernie, sounds like you had a great time stateside. Are you glad to be back? My cars striped and at the painters who is in the middle of fibreglassing up all my mistakes as well as making up some sills for the door recesses as CR dont come with any.
I was planning on giving you a call in the next few weeks regarding that tool we spoke about when you were in Adelaide, that you used on your aluminium panels to create that raised rib. Ive decided to put aluminium panels on my tunnel and doors and I think that detail looks great. Ive recently sold my 95 302 mustang motor and T5 to one of the Cobra Club guys who is putting it into a GT40 he recently purchased which was more than half completed. Obviously without the box. I hope he finishes this one because hes got a Robnell that has been going for quite a few years. I can talk! My new block has been blueprinted and is nearly ready for painting. I still think Ive got about 18 months to go before completion. Regards. |
Gav
thats the problem with houses they take a bloody long time then when you think your done the missus wants to change everything. But at least you got the shed done first.Thats a man with his priorities around the right way :D Mando I will be trying my arse of to go to the nationals with it even if it is taken on a trailer . There are alot of people i want to meet in person and i would say they will all be there especially Warwick he has been a great bloke to deal with . Just ring me when you are heading up this way and your more than welcome to pop in .Still waiting to see your car  Paul |
Ledge
The Cobra is well on the way there. Looks good. |
Thanks Bernie
the hard bit now is trying not to rush the finishing off just so i can get it done . cause boy am i looking forward to lighting it up Paul |
Mando
Sounds like you are well on the way. The roller tool is at McDonald's Racing in Melbourne. They can be contacted on 03 9 465 0000. Russell is the best person to speak to there. He will roll them for you and send the panels back. Should not cost much as they are all flat panels? I just marked the location of the lines in marker and he rolled them accordingly. Your local sheet metal person may also have a similiar tool. **) I will try and get over to Adelaide once I get the Cobra back from Aussie Mike. We are re doing the exhaust - completly. Longer muffler sections and better baffles. A few modifications have been made to the motor, I know I have pulled horsepower out of it drastically, but it should be more streetable - and legal.. A few smaller parts are being replaced, new alternator bracket, accelerator cable brackets etc. |
Hey Ledge, I noticed that you've got racing style harnesses, as many Cobra owners do. I don't know about the laws over there in aussie, but, can you get away with them. My mate who has a Cobra, fitted harnesses also, but couldnt get a Warrant Of Fitness (WOF) cos they said that he had to have a racing license to use them. He just took them out, fitted normal ones, got a warrant and put em back on again.
Just thought I'd ask,and let you know about my friends problem with them in case it happens to you. |
ledge
Paul, Looks like you will be well and ready for summer. |
