On your bike Barry

Well what have I started...

I decided in January to get rid of a little excess weight (no jokes now)...%/

Well a target of 5kg was set (11lbs) and here I am five months later with a nett loss of 14.5kg (31.9lbs)

Well Barry Nelson has gone one better than me, he brought the bike shop.

Great to catch up Barry and his son Brooke down at Chelsea at the Mainline Bike Shop.

Barry told me a little secret that he has not been out in the Cobra but instead he is riding around on his bike also.

%/

Was good to catch up with the guys there. The shop is about 5k's south of the Mordialloc roundabout. Drop in a and see Barry.

He may even have his Cobra there....too tired to ride to the shop..

Barry and Brooke are in the process of building an outdoor coffee shop on the apron area at the front of the bike shop - for all of us Cobra enthusiasts...**)

May catch some of you there sometime...**).**)

Thanks Bernie for your kind words

Well done Bernie !!!

That's one way to improve the power to weight ratio, and live longer to enjoy it.. ;)

Cameron

BMK 06-17-2006 08:26 PM

Cameron

Yes, feeling good and really enjoying the bike riding. I'm riding with some elite riders and local club guys who have given me a lot of both support and guidance.

I purchased a "Gitane" carbon fibre bike with some good gear on it and this has possibly been the real motivator.

There's no way that I would leave a bike sitting in the garage that has cost a similiar price to an LS1!!. So it's out there with plenty of motivation...**)

Rode just on 75k's (45m) yesterday over some long steep hills and feeling good today.

Rounded that off with a trip to Robe in the Cobra and a coffee with Anne. Wonder what the workers were doing.. Must work today to catch up..:3DSMILE:

Cameron, will need to alter the car to fit me in now..

Barry Nelson

Hi Barry

Yes, great to catch up. No doubt the guys over there will drop in for sure.

**)..**)

Hope you have the coffee ready for them.

I'm sure the bike shop will go very well. The shops position is ideal and the things you have there - not to mention the good prices - will see a lot of interest.

Mmmmm - starting to sound like an advertisement..:3DSMILE:

Seriously good luck with it all there Barry. Perhaps we will organise a run down the coast..**)

Bought a bike myself about 8 months ago & have been trying to get out as much as possible. Feeling a lot better & when i loose a little of the buzz i spend more money on it...Hmmmmm, just like the cobra:LOL: . But really, good luck with it & good health to ya!

RODA 06-17-2006 11:08 PM

Bernie,

Now you have got the buzz for riding and Barry has the shop, we will all have to get to together and go for a ride next time you are over. May be even get a group together and do the around the Bay in a day. I am fortunate enough to have Beach road just about at the end of my street. So if you are looking for a riding partner next time your over and have worked out how to put a bike rack on the back of the cobra let me know.

Barry,

Ride pass your shop on a regular basis I will drop in and say hello. Only problem if I stop for a coffee I may not want to get back on the bike again to get home.

Hi Jason,

I was thumbing through the local rag the other day (trying to find the personals) and I swore I saw a person that looked like you BUT much younger in one of the adds:LOL:

Then I realised it was you (advertising your business), was the photo from your VCE year book.:D :D

Hi Jason and Rod

**)..**)..**)..**)..**) a Cobra Peleton..

Done, let's get together and do a ride from up your way down to Frankston.

A stop off at the Mainline Bike shop with Barry for breaky and coffee..:3DSMILE:

BMK 06-19-2006 04:02 AM

Stiffy

It's amazing how good you feel and how much younger you look once you get out on a bike - that's a cycle not one of your neighbours..

Mmmmm..

BMK 06-24-2006 06:25 AM

Hi all

**)

Called in today after driving around in the ute. To cold and wet for the Cobra.

Great to see that Barry and Brooke are really doing the place up. Not to mention the big screen!!

**)..**)

Look forward to a ride over there or a drive across in the Cobra once it warms up. Barry does have a few Cobra DVD and tapes to play on the big screen.

Mmmm coffee was good also...:3DSMILE:

Just south of the Mordialloc roundabout..**)

RODA 06-24-2006 10:45 PM

Bernie,

If it was to cold for the cobra just think about what it will be like riding the bike.

These 3 degree mornings shore wake you up when you get on the bike.

We will need something stronger than coffee when we stop at Barrys.

Have you worked out how to put the bike rack on the cobra?

Rod

BMK 06-24-2006 11:02 PM

Roda

Rod,

I have the ute set up to carry two or more bikes so it's possibly easier that way. Besides the chill factor going home would be terrible in the Cobra - heater on and all in the ute..:3DSMILE:

I just brought some new shoes at the bike shop and a couple of lights.

%/

Amazing how you don't worry about the cost of bike parts after building cars..

Bernie

Bernie

Better be careful that the "Cruise Director" does not learn of the $ spent on that push bike! I have been thinking about the bike thing as well, but as it was 109 yesterday with about 40% humidity, the urge passed.
My Mustang will be back this week - finally - and it looks like it is ready for Pebble Beach under the hood.. once again, I don't let on to Nancy the true cost. She said to me the other day, " I hope you didn't spend something stupid like $3,000- or anything" .
Right. A new GT40 crate motor, a toploader and all the linkage, bellhousing clutch and flywheel and labour to convert from auto, Boss 302 front brakes on the rear, 4 pistons on the front, a differential and housing for the 9 inch, a panhard road, an aluminium radiator, new distributor, victor jr. intake, holley 780 cfm carb, new 6AL MSD and coil, a tachometer, a race roll cage, new race seats, a Shelby steering linkage, new master cylinder and complete brake line change, a new electric fuel pump and all the other stuff I can't remember plus paying a real expert to assemble and install all of this.

I can honestly say, "No Baby, it wasn't anywhere near $3000-!"

I suggest you take the same tack with Anne...

Steve

I'll post some pics next week - you will be stunned. The person doing the work has restored two of the 6 Daytona Coupes and numerous real GT40's.

BMK 06-26-2006 06:58 AM

Hi mate,

Mmmmm. Now if she find out it may just be you in the pool there - on your own...%/

Face down!!

Good to see that you are making progress. Has the Honda race car gone?

Post a few pictures when you get the Mustang back??

Whoaaa it's hot there in Scottsdale - but it's a dry heat!!

We have just had a run of perfect winter days at 62 - 66f. Great for both the Cobra and the bike.

Now what would a full carbon French Gitane bike cost???.....must ask Anne?
