Now that's how you launch a Cobra
QLD guys were at the drags again last Wednesday night and Pete was putting on his usual crowd pleasing display.
No wonder he placed first in 1/8th Mile drags(5LT) at last Nationals.
His best time for the night was 12.11. Not too shabby for a modest 5lt 302w.
Peter Ransom(owner of DRB) was also out there testing his factory demonstrator GT40.

Fantastic pics Craig.
Thats the sort of traction problem we'd all like.

Must be a live axle in Petes car to be putting the power down like that. I reckon it'd be cool if you could do that with IRS.
Cheers

Now I am confused.
12 sec 1/8 mile seems slow! did you mean qtr mile?
By the way, is he running 90/10 shocks in the front?
What tyres on the rear?
Cheers,
Ben

Mike's right about the tyres, they are MT ET street radials - simply the best radial drag tyre on the market - in many ways they are better than slicks in my opinion. I can run a 1.60, 60 foot time on small 235/60-15 ET radials.
I reckon Mike may be right about the rear-end too, generally speaking IRS will squat fairly evenly (within reason).
The pictures look like he's on his way to a 10 second pass!!! That thing would be pretty damn scary with an extra 100hp.....

12.11 is for the 1/4.
Yeah, shortened Ford 9" in the rear. I think it's 3.9 ratio.
He had an old set of MT's given to him. At the Nationals he just runs the R spec tyres for 1/8th mile.
Will find out MPH & gear ratio. Pete might post here himself.

Hey Guys ,
thanks for the comments.
Mph was 112.5
60 foot was 1.67
1/8th was 7.7
The tyres are M&H,
to be honest its the first time I have been quicker on those than using Proxes Ra1.
The track was really good being two weeks after the winternationals.
Peter..
