Default Had an attack of the Aussie Mike's

Well as the title states, I got side tracked this weekend.
I have been talking with a mate from work who also lives out on large country blocks in the same area I am in with our new house.
It turns out he has another couple of mates out this way and every weekend is a piss up party at someones house.
After one such party last week I was talking to my work mate (who I knew had a paddock bomb) when I discovered that all the guys out here have a paddock bomb.
Not wanting to miss out on what was sounding like some fun I asked what the rules are to become a member of the Illparpa racing team, turns out the rules are "20 years old and 4 cylinders".
I put out the feelers last week and found what I was looking for, a 1972 Volkswagen Fastback.
For the grand sum of $200.00 I now am the proud owner of Hitlers finest.
Through the week with much input from the techs at work and from my wife, it was decided that a Dukes of Hazzard theme was the best choice. I got home from work on Saturday and started at 3.00pm
I bought it as a complete car but in my excitment of turning it into a race car I forgot to get a before pic, so here is the first pic I have of the rocket.

After dismantling all the exterior bits (except the front indicators, screws are seized) and the rear bumper (gotta take the exhaust off to get the bolts) it was out with the dishwashing liquid and the scotch brite pad. Here she is after a wash and rub down.

At this point in time my mates arrived and the magic fridge was calling so work came to a grinding holt.

Out of bed early this morning (Sunday) I pushed the car out into the sunlight (to warm up the panels) and started to mask her up, Here she is ready to start painting.

After afew hours (and 4 litres of industrial enamel) the rocket looked like this.
[IMG][/IMG]

After letting it sit for another couple of hours I was getting impatient so it was back to the shed and start fitting the trims and chrome and lights that I took off.
I started to apply some tape to make the rebel flag on the roof but found the paint was still too soft so decided I better leave it sit and go hard before I do anymore on the paint side of stuff.
So here is my VW about 24 hours after I started pulling it apart.

Still need to finish the roof decal and paint the bumpers black, I think I will paint the rims white and fit the chrome centre caps back on.
Then I need the big number for the doors and a name on the roof.
I have been thinking about a name and so far have come up with GENERALLY or GENERAL NUISANCE
If anyone else has a suggested name please throw your hat in.

I have also just won an ebay auction for a dixie tune air horn set

Sorry about the long post but thought everyone would appreciate a giggle.
