Sorry to hear about Steve Irwin
hey, guys. My family really liked watching his shows, and even with all his risky business, he seemed to be quite the environmentalist. He will be missed.

It's an odd thing, you see him doing all this wild stuff and assume that he's going to be alright at the end of the day.
Obviously a very committed man who cared for his (and everyone's) environment and wanted to show it off. Very sad for his family - he'll leave a big hole I'm sure. |

He was a guy who lived life to its fullest. He probably had more excitement and fun in any one of his last years than most of us will in our entire lives. He will be missed.

He will be well remembered as one who introduced us all to many of the animal kindom in a way no one ever has done before. He certainly did several foolish stunts that involved deadly or poisonous animals but that is what endeared him to the public. I wonder if his wife will remain there or return to Oregon where she is from??

Great guy, great Ambassador, great talent, great courage ... and full of beans. Sorely missed already.
But, he was definitely a dangerous dan. Flukey death, though. His kids deserved to experience more of him and learn from him. His choice, not theirs. Wonder what his kids would have voted? R.I.P. |
There seems to be only 2 other stingray related deaths in Australia's history apart from Steve Erwin. Not to long a go a small boy was killed in Innsifail by a stingray!
You either loved Steve or hated him, but there is no defying the fact he did more for the environment then others like him. I reckon he was probably one of the few of us who has actually been able to touch and see numerous 'real' cobras in his life. I've only seen replicas! Blair |

A very sad passing indeed.
The Steve we all saw in the media was exactly the man in real life. Very little "acting". In fact much of his activities in making the documentries were toned down for the safely of the film and sound crew. Behind the scenes Steve was so passionate about animals that even the selection of staff at the Zoo was an involved process to ensure they all shared the same passion. We'll all miss him. |
A sad time indeed - a loss to humanity - lived his life on his sleeve and enjoyed every bit of it.
I hear that he had been caged up at Cairns waiting for the weather to break so decided to head to the inner reef and do some filming for Bindy's TV Show. Don't worry about Australia Zoo not continuing. It will grow from strength to strength as a memorial to Steve as Terri is one bright cookie! And watch out for Bindy in future years - a chip off the old block. Also wouldn't be surprised if Steve's Dad comes out of retirement as support for the family. This guy was huge in the UK prior to making it big in Oz (as in the US). World sentiment will be on the same lines as Diana's death. |
apart from the fantastic things he did for the environment and for putting Australia on the map i ,like most, feel that I've lost a great mate.

It's nearly always especially sad when a person loses their life at a young age - he will be missed. Of all the things he has done, this sounds like it was way down the "risk" list - simply the million dollar shot he would have never expected - it was simply his time to go.
I enjoyed his shows, my 7 year old enjoyed him much more. My dad died at 45 - his family will really miss him - prayers for his children and wife. AUSIE AUSIE AUSIE - OY OY OY |
Very Sad indeed. I think he introduced the word Crikey into the English language. I think the one thing that hasn't been said is that he was totally dedicated to the education of people about the animals and their environment. Truely a good soul. His dedication energy towards education and the environment is one of a kind and can't be replaced. Tomorrow is not promised to anyone that is why it called the PRESENT!
Maybe we can take his message and we all have certainly learned from him and do a little better job at educating our kids so his message can be heard for many generations. I hope his family will carry on his message and I think that is what he would want them to do... a very dedicated family unit. R.I.P. Steve J.A. |
