Telling the truth

Hi guys,

Well I have just been caught out telling a few white lies.

I had a little explaining to do. No real problem talked my way out of it - I think..

%/

My son dropped me in the sh!t big time, by telling Anne how much I had actually paid for a recent purchase.

He did it by mistake..:3DSMILE:..

'thought she knew everything about what I was spending' he said..

This now prompts me to ask the question

What little untruths do we tell our wife or partner about our car and parts purchases..

It was really cheap

It didn't cost that much

Or do you just purchase and not tell her....Stored away in the garage. I've had that for ages you tell her when she discovers something new.

Don't want to get anyone in trouble here - she may read your 'Post"

My wife came home with a couple of real bargains.. then I saw the reciept..%/

Aussie Mike 09-20-2006 04:14 AM

My wife's always using the "It was on special" line on me so I just do the same back. No real arguments. :3DSMILE:

Cheers

I'm keeping a tally of everything I spend on it, though I don't have a wife to worry about.... The total is starting to get pretty scary too

Our arrangement is that anything either of us buys that cost over $100 is supposed to discussed prior to buying......amazing how many times she forgets  and how many things I can buy for $ 99.99

Rebel1 09-20-2006 08:38 AM

You're kiddin aren't ya Bernie.:o

When you have:
1. a wife
2. a mistress
3. a debt at the bank

......and all three are overdue.

You don't tell anyone anything.

Mulv 09-20-2006 10:11 AM

Bernie, Bernie

See how much trouble you made for yourself? You should be truthful like me, and agreeable..

"You didn't spend anything like $3000- did you?"

"No honey, it was nothing like that at all."

See? Always be truthful and you won't have to be begging for mercy later...

Why is Todd speaking with his mother at all? He's over 18 ,correct?

If he wasn't such a good guy you'd have to cut him off for that...

She'll be at the jewellers by week's end!:(

Bernie,

Kids are such a joy (at times) aren't they? ;)

Ever wonder why when they put the camera on a kid at a sporting event, he always says "HI, MOM! instead of "HI, DAD!" ???

You are playing against a stacked deck, buddy. I suggest you better tell the truth from now on, the ladies ALWAYS seem to find out. Too bad intelligence agencies aren't as good as they are at recruiting spies.

Cheers!

Hi Guy’s,

I’ve got my girlfriend believing that my cobra project is going to cost me just under 25,000 from scratch:D ……….so when I buy a part I just tell her its part of the 25 grand.

I also have her believing that an inch is really about two inch’s……..

Hey,

I told Mama that my Cobra was an investment that would appreciate! I figure I might have to listen to her one time when I sell it, better than the constant griping about dumping more money into an old car like she did with previous "toys"

Dangerous Doug 09-20-2006 02:26 PM

My wife was a financial analyst. She sees our income as a series of cash inflows, and the Cobra expenditures as a short series of cash outflows over the next 2-3 years. I get the next 2-3 years, she gets the next 20-30 or so!

flipper35 09-20-2006 03:12 PM

My wife has bought half the parts for me for different occasions. She hasn't always told me the price. Not that I am complaining mind you.

Aussie Mike,

Hi mate,

It's always 'on special' that's a given here.

I think it was the Dagwood and Blondie cartoon script that Blondie constantly coming home to tell Dagwood what bargain she had found shopping.

Think I took a leaf out of her book..

BMK 09-20-2006 03:44 PM

X Rated..%/...

Good to see you over here on the Aussie forum. Say Hi to Jay and the gang there.

Sorry I could not make the Run N Gun this year. Perhaps again next year with Hersh in the GT40 again.

Rebel1,

I have two of the above,

1. Debt 2. Wife..... No Mistress yet..

My thinking with the Bank is basic to say the least...

If I owe the Bank $100,000 I have a problem. Seeing I owe them millions then they have the problem!!..

Blittleton 09-20-2006 03:54 PM

Bernie,

Ok, here is a secret guys. Buy what you are wanting, don't let her see it. Pick up the literature on the item. Try to read it when she is around and she will ask what you are reading. Tell her that you are reading up on something that interest you, ask her what she thinks and tell "about" what it cost. I have gotten away with a lot here. You just have to prime her first.

Mulv,

HI Steve,

Well what can I say. You know Todd. It's not like him to slip up and tell Anne anything.

He is a master at giving Anne answers that she seems to accept. She asks him where he is going when he leaves the house and and simply says [b]out.[b]and she seems to accept that without question.

.... Perhaps I'll just say it cost nothing when she next asks...
