Show and shine results

Nsw site has the show and shine results.

Nice to see I have the worst looking car in the pack.

Something smells very fishy Phil.

I would have your interior in a heartbeat.

Tenrocca 10-19-2006 05:25 PM

Something rotten in the state of Denmark.......

Surely theres an error (another "sorting problem" perhaps)

Maybe thats why the link is down, someone realised a screw up? Left a "1" off the front?

BJ's Snake 10-19-2006 05:26 PM

But I reckon it was one of, if not the best sounding Cobra there.I was standing at the hillclimb with Tenrocca and the sound of your car at full tilt up the hill would put a horn on a jellyfish!

Cheers
Brett

Phil,

I second what Brett said. I was standing on the track during the go to whoa, and saw a lot of Cobra's up close and personal. Your's looked and sounded brilliant, and I got to see it with 2 different drivers. So an encore performance.. **) **)

Just brilliant, I say..

Tenrocca 10-19-2006 05:53 PM

Ive posted the results in my Gallery for anyone interested.

I think apart from some obvious errors, thers a core problem with how the cars are judged. Theres lots of different things people try and do with there cars - some like it original, some like it custom, some like it to look like the inside of a falcon, some even like to put mis matched wheels on in bold attempt to pimp his ride half way through the competition. :D.

From what I can see - everyone is just lumped in together - when in a lot of cases its not an apples to apples comparison. eg. Stefanos car - In my opinion the most outstanding car overall at the nationals, scored the same as this dirty piece of work someone dragged in from the infield:

PhilN - You do know Im just taking the pi$$ - most "entertaining" driver of the weekend and your car is awesome. :)

RODA 10-19-2006 06:27 PM

Photo Starved,

Could all of you guys that were lucky enough to attend nationals, post some photos of the show and shine.

So all that did not attend can drool.

Rod

s & S

Tenrocca, its great to see someone put in wrting what I had been thinking also. However unlike any form of timed racing event, the S & S is subjective. For me, the Nationals was very satisfying from a personal point of view as I have never raced my car ever before and it was so good learning how to drive fast and have fun at the same time. I had more spins than I care to mention but geez I loved the sprints.....

My own car certainly is not to everyones, maybe even most peoples taste, and I wonder whether that is part of what had me knowhere near the pointy end of the S & S result?

I'm not sure how you overcome the "debate" as to who should have been placed where when its such a subjective and personal view??????

I'm already preparing for next year. For me my goal is trying to beat that 1.15sprint time......and not go off in that bloody dust bowl again! Still cleaning!

And then there are those who chose to race all day on Friday and just cleaned the windscreen, and still posted a score 'just outside' the trophies (that would be me :JEKYLHYDE ).

It's a black art gentlemen...

But I did love the racing on Friday :D

Black Art

Not true Cam.... you showered.....and shaved to from memory...and had a good nights sleep away from the human trombone (Sorry Scotty). So frankly mate, you had better preparation for bling than I did....and I spent all Friday polishing the sucker!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!! The car boys the car!

Show and shines have always been and always will be subjective.

Here is a classic example......

At an All Ford Day at Nerang last weekend and clearly the best car there was Dru's Daytona - better than any tickford, boss ford etc etc and guess what his car didn't win anything:rolleyes:

Maybe Ford fans have no idea what a Daytona is;)

The car of the show was a ghetto blasting, plasma in the boot falcon (nice, but not that nice!!!).

And to take the judging further, one of the judges was a Car Mag Editor who wants my car to appear in his mag no less!!! Yet did my car appear in the trophy line up - did it squat!

Now I couldn't give a damn, but it does make you wonder on what basis a car is judged.

Maybe I should install a Plasma in the boot and an expresso machine under the bonnet!

Who knows - who cares!

Rules and Instructions

I think that if you are going to do something then do it the best you can.

It would be good to have 2 categories for show and shine, get rid of the show and street class rubbish.

Class I: authentic replicas.
Class 2: Hot rodded tributes.

The entrant will nominate what class they would like to be judged in. This will allow a very clear instruction to the judges on what points should be awarded.

I am now going to upgrade my interior, pull it all out and put the Hyundai seats back in.

I am not bent and twisted, just frustrated that things could be better with minimal change.

S & S

Phil, I reckon if you want to really "compete" in the Authentic Replica Class you should put your Cobra seats in a Hyundai? He he :-)

To be honest I am really unkeen on competing in anything that is subjective...... Although on a hot QLD day down the beach most of, if not all the girls look bloody great! Subjective or not I think you'd all agree!

Perhaps, forget about having the "expert judges" and maybe lets all vote. 100 competitors = 100 votes.. Its truly then a representation of our peers who all at least respect what everyone is tryng to do in their own way. Yep, its still subjective I know but at least your being judged by people who know Cobras...

I dunno, no real answers there I suppose.. I'm not worried but... I just the love the fact I own one!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!

Matt,

re reading my last post, I certainly do not want to give the impression that one car or owner is better than the other... As I said at the track, some cars are great looking, some are fast, and some are both... but they are ALL amazing for their own reasons.

In 2005 I went for it in the Show and Shine, in 2006 I was just having too much fun learning how fast I could go. The results don't reflect in many cases the effort of the owner, just the opinion of the judge.

I like the idea of a 'Peer' prize. Because sometimes we know the extraordinary effort that has gone into a car, and sometimes we just love them.

Blah...blah...blah.... end of drivel

spookypt 10-20-2006 12:41 AM

Cam you didn't mate..not at all... I just think it was unfair that I had to shack up with the human trombone!!!! he he he

richardferguson 10-23-2006 12:04 AM

Very diplomatic of you, Cameron! Perhaps a career in politics beckons. I hear there will be a Senate seat up for grabs as Stott-Despoja is tossing it in.
Interesting to see the judging differences with regard to the SPF cars. Surely all that bling under your hood must have given the judges more wood than my simple little motor!
Richard

Cameron Parsons 10-23-2006 04:36 AM

It was actually the 1000 mao I slipped them before judging  . Clearly it took to long to work out that 1000 mao is worth about 5 cents

Roll on Shelbyfest!! **)
