Default Python Cobra

Is there anyone on ClubCobra from the Aussie side that has built or currently owns a Python Vehicles "Python Cobra"? They are on the internet from GV Automotive in South Melbourne. Any information re. the chassis? It looks pretty strong.....I was wondering what components it uses?

Dont have one but did look when I was deciding on a kit.

Yes, they do look strong. I think its because he is a racing fan and builds the cars strong enough for the track.

Listen Fastraxsg, I have a much more important question to ask. How come you have 4,294,967,295 POSTS?

I went in there only a couple of weeks ago. Python do an awesome looking chassis. They fabricate all their own parts for everything. I think he said it was about $28,000 for a rolling chassis. Just sold one to Michael Schumacher.

You would think Michael Schumacher would buy an original or a Kirkham at lest

\ Might be another Michael Schumacher? Sounds way out there, but who knows. George looks a very intense fella - and drives like a lunatic from what I saw last year

Default chassis

Not only does the chassis look stout in the photos, he has a couple of awesome photos on the site too. Guess it might be a bit rich for my blood, I doubt the way I drive I would ever stand a chance of breaking it....whose is the Micheal guy......some one said he bleed red, isn't he supposed to be buying GTO replicas (or maybe the factory)
the folks at Python were nice enough to respond to my email, better than a few others in the industry...

Hi, I'm only new here as well, but I was just in at Python on Saturday, and had a chat to George about his cars, and once he got over the fact that I wanted to put a LS1 in it, he was more than happy to explain all the details of his cars, and what sets them apart from others (no doubt all kit manufacturers do the same). I was impressed that he at least spent about an hour going through what I was looking for, and not necessarily flogging his wares.

Basically he said kit was made from scratch. The frame itself was tubular, and the joins appeared to be in good order, and certainly looked strong to say the least!

I also got the story of the special order left hand drive for Mr Schumacher......

I have heard from another person, not on this forum, who said the same thing.....

I stopped into Python when shopping for my kit. Frankly, I copped an ear full.

G'day Willow & welcome to CC. The only other local cobra builder in Melbourne is RCM (if you haven't already checked it out). However, Schumacher unfortunately didn't place an order!

I have to agree with NASSTY. I made a special trip from The top of Queensland to Melbourne just to see Python and got the same ear full as Nasty!

As for the 4 billion posts, last time I checked 'haxing' the system (in this case the forum) was BAD!

Thanks for that Al. I'm guessing they will be my next point of call.

I'm just starting to look into the cobra kit side of things, and must say I'm a little daunted as to all the ADR requirements, but I'm hoping I can call on a few mates to help out with the build, who have also been down the path of building other types of cars.

I'll start another thread to make sure I don't hijack this one......

I have only briefly spoken to the guy at Python and had a look at his car at the Nationals. The chassis does look pretty trick, but to be honest I do not think that it is much of a deciding factor in selecting a kit. All of the Cobras on the market today meet the RTA criteria for strength and bending.

Why do we not seem to see many Python's outside Vic?

If you were selecting a kit today I do not think the chassis design would be high on the list. How about these other criteria?

Cost of build
Availability of donor parts
Back up and support
Authenticity of body
Ease of build
Re sale value
etc.

Cheers,

Ben

I almost bought a Python when I was looking for a kit.

I'm glad now that I didn't.

Cheers

Well, guess we have flogged this far enough, orginaly I hadn't heard of Python in Australia so now we all know. As far as haxing the site, I wish I was savy enough to do that. If you look closely, the number of my posts never changes. Some where out in cyber space with the starship Enterprise is the answer....Thanks for the opinions

Darth Vader is from the Darkside too...

Hi all, i do not own a cobra but am merely an enthuisiast of the great cars.
It was interesting to read what some of you have said in reference to Python Vehicles in South Melbourne. George Vidovic has run that business for 26 years and stayed committed to it, building cars for anyone.

I have known George since the late 90's through his racing team and was lucky enough to work at his shop for a little while. He is without a doubt one of the best blokes i know, always the first bloke to put his hand up to lend a hand or help in any way he can. You have got to remember he only build's maybe 2 or 3 cars a year when business is strong and i know he has built 70 odd cars in 26 years of which he owns 3 and i have seen another 7 or 8 so there is no doubt the cars are around if you look hard enough. He believes in giving the customer what they want and every car gets something newly developed or a proven race component on it.

Where are the cars? well i have seen 7 of them and there is another in the workshop now and two at various stages. Whether or not you believe that Mr.Scumacher has bought one or if it is THE M.Schumacher or not there is no doubt there is yet another cobra being built, it is left hand drive and it is a Python. And the money for a Python is simply change for Michael Schumacher, so it isnt like he is getting a bank loan so fussing over if it is will do nothing to help.

George is intense becuase he is passionate, he loves cars and he loves the Shelby brand, he goes over to America whenever he can afford to so he can stay on top of latest products and ideas for his cars. As 'Willow' stated he is more than happy to talk to anyone about his cars, and show you the cars, he gives you his full attention, when i worked there he would drop anything if someone walked in looking for someone. I know of 2 Python cobras in NSW so they are around, a black one and a maroon one.

At the end of the day it only matters to those who buy a Python that they are now in the exclusive club of saying "i have the same car as a Mr. M.Schumacher, and outside a Ferrari how many of you can say that? These cars are a fabulously designed and engineered Cobra, they aren't a kit but a hand built sports car to the highest quality. Sounds like your all a bit jelous of anyone with a Python...
