Looking for a 66 Mustang.
It is time to update Karens car, She would love a 66 Mustang coupe.
The wish list is: 66 coupe in the silver blue 289, 4 speed (Auto would be ok) RHD Power steer, disc brakes, air con Absolutely no rust! We are looking for a good example do not want to do much to it. If any one knows of a car that fits most of these, let me know. Phil |

That will be a nice cruiser - sure beats the bubble she has now! There is a Mustang shop in Artarmon that gets some good stuff in, but a lot of the importers seem to be in Vic. Ben |
Yeh Phil its time u got Karen a car with some style and class. Whats wrong with a '67? Rather partial to that model myself (especially green ones). Try looking in Unique Cars, they generally have a few listed, and be prepared to part with a few bucks for a right hand drive converted in good nic (mine was a fluke at the price I paid). 66 or 67
HI Tom and Fran,
Happy new year, I have been looking arround and you are right the good cars are up there in price. This way I might get the cobra back! Karen likes the 66 but the 67 is a better car, they are a little wider and are a bit stronger where they need to be, hopefully She will go with a 67. I was taking with RRS there suspension packs look pretty good, If I can get a car cheap enough I will concider fitting these bits and pieces. Karen has never been booked in her life. (*****) Phil |
Yet!!!!! That could be about to change. Its a bugger driving with a speedo that is still in miles per hour so u better tell her 1.6 km to the mile so 60km is about 35 miles per hour. Its soooooooooooo easy to forget LOL

Tom It takes a lot of skill to drive for 20Years and never get booked......and NO Gav the car is definitely for me, he can keep OUT. He can keep the Territory for his daily driver, suits me fine. We did consider buying a shell and doing it all but i am so over breaking fingernails. But how long would it take to swap the Cobra motor and put it in a Mustang??? Phil: One little correction: The '67 Mustang is not any stronger than the "66s. While at KarKraft in Dearborn--the year was 1967--I did bending and torsional ridgity tests on the Mustang. Turned out the '66s and '67s were the strongest cars built at the time except for the GT40 Mk IV's, which can hardly be put in the same category. All the '66 "needs" to enhance its stiffness is an export brace between the firewall and spring towers, much like the GT350 Shelby's and export models. I think Oz Mustangs have all ready been fitted with these.

Yeh I agree, but circumstance and other issues are the drivers behind the swap. But it will be a daily driver, so i will still have a toy and drive it more often than the Cobra.

The Unique Car mag and the Just World car magazines run adds from Mustangs of Melbourne etc. Check out their adds. Have heard a few good reports on a Sth. Australia company, I think it's called Rainsfords or similiar. They import to order and convert to RHD for under $5,000. I'm over in the States in a few months and if you still looking I'll check out a few friends that have contacts there in clubs and cruiser clubs...**) %/ They after all just '66 XP Falcons..:LOL:..there. Thanks for the offer Bernie, but Karen flew to Melbourne today and bought a 66 coupe, a private sale.
The car was on the higher side price wise but it seamed to be a very good example, we had lots of pics from the owner and could see that it looked really good. We thought about getting an import and fixing it up but I was afraid to get my hands into it and blowing the budget. It turns out to be a car that is true to its "code" and has no rust, and as Karen said the straightest car she has seen. The only thing now is to work out how to get it home. For the record I would have prefered an XP, but it is not my car!!!! Phil |
