First one definitely.
Second one - no, Warwick doesn't have palms at the front of his work shed:rolleyes: |
No palms in the top photo and I was there only a few months ago... still, could be another factory. :)

You're HALF right, The rear view was taken at Warwicks place after I got the hard top fitted. And the "Palm Trees" shot was at Mum's place in Ipswich. I'm also including another shot, when I dropped into Mums on the way home from racing...must have been raining, because I had the soft top on that time. Also another shot, just to show that I don't always have a roof on the car....actually hardly ever. http://www.clubcobra.com/photopost/d...series_002.jpg http://www.clubcobra.com/photopost/d...f_100_2336.JPG http://www.clubcobra.com/photopost/d...m/100_5142.JPG The photos just reminded me of what Mum's place was always like... poor little bugger spent 30 years making the most beautiful double block garden, and now because of the never ending drought...it's just about all gone. Brown grass and dead plants......pretty nasty. Warren. |
Wazza, tell her to grab some of that gray water piping and feed it from the washing machine outlet hose - my mate's done it and his back yard is unbelievable. Mind you, they experience minor flooding when doing a double load on the weekends. :)

Sambo...
My mother would be the biggest "water miser" on the planet. Told me on the weekend, that she washes her clothes, catches the water as the machine drains and spins her clothes, then puts the water back in to the machine and starts again, and THEN a third time !! AFTER all of this she then catches every drop and pours it on the few plants she can keep alive. Only allowed a couple of hours to water plants, and only allowed to use buckets...as per Level 5 restrictions....and she uses every minute she can, but always reuses every drop in the house. If everyone was like mum, we'd be tipping water out of the dams to stop them from overflowing !!! Almost! Warren. |
That's inspiration for us all - and I thought I was doing my bit with the large bucket under the shower!

Hi Pete... Where was my keenest "Show and Shine" pommy on the weekend... MacLeans Bridge was on, and there was no PCC !!?? Re : The Hard Top; Doesn't need to be a PM...Im o.k. to pass on any info that might help. I got the original roof in very basic form from Laurie Bongailis in Victoria, for , I Think, around $450-00 - $480-00??...something like that. I Then took it to George Ferguson "Fergies Fine Finishes" here at the Gold Coast. Unfortunately George has pulled up stumps and is on an around Australia Pilgrimage, so he can't do it for you, but I'm sure if you talk to either Warwick Harrison, or Peter Ransom, they'll be able to put you on to their Fibreglasser to make the roof. With the painting, and a fair bit of mucking around in glassing, and fitting, including inserting stainless steel mounting brackets all around, and the fitting of the perspex back window, ( Available from Ozvenom...Scotty Hampson for about $180 "ish")...I think the final figure was a bit over $2,000. It might have been a bit of EXTRA messing about with my car, because my roll bars are a bit thicker steel than standard, and consequently the roll of the hoop is higher than normal roll bars, which then resulted in having to build up the rear of the hard top, to clear the hoops. This changes the look of the roof a little, making it sit on a bit of a "rakish angle" , but I was happy with it in the end, and convinced myself that it had a bit of a VIPER look about it, with the back sitting a bit higher . Served us well on it's maiden voyage, which was the trip down to the Nationals last year, where we enjoyed six hours of downpour soon after we left Warwick. Takes a couple of minutes to throw on ..or off.. and is VERY much needed in our Queensland summer. Not too worried about getting wet occasionally, but sitting in the car without a roof, when it's 44 degrees in Sunny Queensland, makes you appreciate the shade that the hard top gives you. Also , it looks like a different car with the roof on, and throwing the roof on every so often, is a bloody sight cheaper than buying different mags just to change the look of the car .( Currently on my 4th. set of differnt mags in 4 and a half years....and sadly looking at some awesome Dragway mags I've fallen in love with) Lucky I'm great in bed, or the redhead would've flicked me years ago. Regards, Warren. |
Thanks Warren - Very helpful (as usual)
No Macleans Bridge as raining most of morning with us. Shame, cause the car had just been polished a couple of weeks earlier for our local Autospectacular (which I managed to pick up another $15 trophy) - 3 weeks on and off prep work for a $15 trophy - gotta be stupid:rolleyes:   May take part in a local Tops off run for charity starting at Loganholme this coming Sunday. Will start a new thread just in case anyone is interested. |
Wazza
Sign up the redhead and let's get a second opinion... - Great - Gray'd - Grate - Gyrate Let's have no misunderstanings.... But all that aside. I look at your car and know that you drive the wheels off it (apparently 4 sets :JEKYLHYDE ). It's better than brand new... Now that's passion. Cameron 'minivan driver' Parsons |

Thanks Pal, I appreciate your kind words.... I guess it is a passion...or insanity....or no life.....whatever! Already looking forward to the Nats.....or will we see you before then? Let me know if you touch down in Queensland, for a flying visit at any time. ....mmmmmm...beeeer.... Just been over at Ants...watching the new engine for the red racer being created. Lots of Shiny bits in lots of expensive looking boxes. I love it when the "bits" are all in tissue paper , like crystal or jewelery. If only they were as inexpensive as crystal or jewelery...and not the actual price they are !! Regards, Warren. |
I may well be coming through in a few weeks, will catch up off line.
The Nat's however may be shaky.. I will know soon.... Cameron |
For anyone who is interested, my top would cost around £445 GB Pounds to either Sydney or Perth.

Does anyone have any pics of how a hardtop attached at the screen and the back - and also how clean it looks one removed (ie, what hardware attaches to the body).
Cheers. |
A while back I took a bunch of shots and uploaded to my gallery. There should be some there that show the attachments and fittings.

I'll attach a bunch of photos that I just took this morning for you. Hopefully they will help a bit. For a bit more detail, have a look at my gallery, and the same photos have foot notes that might help. I've written a quick explanation on each one, but basically I have stainless mounts glassed into the roof, which sit over the top corners of the windscreen surrounds, and another clip which sits on the middle / top of the windscreen surround, with nutserts to hold firm. I've also had two shafts built in/glassed in to the back corners, which insert into my existing mounts for my soft top. These two shafts then have drilled holes at 90 degrees, which locate or hold the roof at the exact height away from the paint, to allow a soft weather strip to snugly fit down on the painted surface. Putting on the hardtop is as simple as gently placing the front of the roof over the windscreen surround, and then pushing the two back shafts into the holes normally used for the soft top. Then I have stainless hexhead threaded bolts that I put one in each corner of the windscreen top, and two in the centre locating inserts, and one in each of the holes in the rear mount, that hold it at the correct height. With these six small bolts in place, it doesn't move. Also,
Thought you should be aware that hardtops don't fold up for easy storage, and this is where mine "Lives" for most of the year. In my office, and usually in the bloody way. Regards, Warren. http://www.clubcobra.com/photopost/d...m/100_5824.JPG |
Warren,
make up a straight bar (wood will do) the width of the back of the hardtop. Put two alloy blocks drilled to take your rear mount posts from the hardtop. And then bolt it to the wall. When you are not using your hardtop, you can hang it on the wall as art. That's what I did!! Off the floor and out of harms way. Cameron |
I found another interesting hardtop today. It's taken from a post on the Factory Five forum and features a unique "gull wing" design.
http://i173.photobucket.com/albums/w...27dsc00346.jpg http://i173.photobucket.com/albums/w...27dsc00348.jpg I'm not sure about the bulge when looking at the profile, but it looks like they went for maximum visibility. Here's the forum link: http://www.ffcobra.com/ubb/ultimateb.../t/000316.html Cheers, Paul |
Hey Wazza, Thats a nice looking soft top! where did you get that? I am going to want to put a soft top on my G-Force when the time comes so i can get more use out of the car. I plan to drive it everywhere.
No garage queens for me !! I really like the look of the top the BMWZ4 has and was wanting to get something close to that look. |
