Wonder who makes a wider cobra kit to fit one of them.

Yeah..I know....some folks have fitted the 5.4 but man..there is no room left and ya better have very very small feet.

Love it though

Just looked at a pretty mean motor today at Nick's.

Coming along nicely and not far to go - final big push Nick.

And what a place for the Beer Fridge - one arm's length from the Hoist - Nice;)

I love the 5.4L SVT.

Regards.

This is a quick question for hsv300. I was wondering what made you decide to use a T56 with your 4.6? By the way I reckon your motor looks great especially with the supercharger on top.

Regards.

Came with the motor:rolleyes: + will probably run 3.9 or 4.1 rear diff so will need that sling shot 6th gear.

How do we go with compliance, i thought crate engines were no longer acceptable

NASSTY 02-25-2007 04:05 PM

Only one problem with these motors, price.

I read in Street Machine that the GT 5.4 S/C landed was about $30,000.

Geez if that's true I'll build a 800 hp, boosted LS1 for under 30k....

The only problem you will have its still a holden AKA "Piston Claper" no mater what you do to it....:3DSMILE:  :3DSMILE:

Plums 02-26-2007 05:21 AM

Yeah, but it'd be an 800 hp "piston slapper"... :D :D

An 800 HP "Piston Slapper" that would probably weigh about 100KG less than the Porky Ford motor :p

Cheers

The 500HP motor is nice! The ony problem is that the Cobra Mustang weighs almost 5,000 lbs!!! They need to lighten the car.

I just got out of boating. You should see the price of motors for a high performance boat!!! The new Mercury Racing 600 (600HP) is approx. $65,000 with the NXT drive!!!! Then you have to but 2 of them:eek:

The Mercury Racing 1075 (1,000HP) costs $125,000 with the number 6 drive.....don't forget you need 2 of them:eek:  The rebuild time is 25 hours and it costs $26K to rebuild (each)

These cars are ALOT cheaper than a boat--and you can use the car alot more often:D

Good point.

However, I saw on TV the Ford GT converible concept that had a 750hp version of the same motor (5.4 s/c). The man Shelby said himself that the only difference was the tune (more boost) as the bottom end was bullet proof!:D

NASSTY 02-26-2007 07:20 PM

There are cheaper options to s/c a Boss 5.4

I particular like this solution from Herrod as it almost looks stock. They use the top of the stock intake manifold cover on top of the supercharger. All you need to do is convince the officer that there's only a glorified idle pully in front of the engine :) But it's apparently ADR approved anyway!

Another option is BPT Motorsport in Perth
