Love to Phil,

But you know how it is...

"Crawled" around Wakefield Park in the black one last year in 1.10.5, need to see what I can do in it this year, when I get some decent brakes.

And then hopefully get the red one to go a second or two quicker than the black one.

Gotta give you SOME competition my son, can't let you take it too easy, can I ?

Nice times Wazza.

Did it take a lot of work over the years to get the suspension sorted, or is the DRB pretty good first go?

Cheers,

Ben

Hi Ben,

The car was probably well sorted when it was built in 1998, by Warwick Harrison.
It has a lot of things done a bit differently when you crawl around under it.

Warwick built it as his own car, and I think it was actually the last DRB he built before starting his Harrison Cobras.

However it had been through a couple of different owners by the time I got it in 2003, and the most recent owner had put on some big fat Dragway Five spokes, with the wrong offsets, and had to basically jack up all of the suspension to get the wheels to stop from hitting the arches.

The wheels used to actually stick out from the body of the car, and didn't look "right"

I ended up at a specialist suspension and steering place here at the Gold Coast, and a pile of bucks later, some new wheels and tyres, and all new King springs, and adjustable shocks, and we had a decent car.

I'm pretty happy with how it all "sits" now, and if I had the cahoonies to really test it out, it would be pretty quick.

I could be a good one to have in the debate of whether it's cheaper/better to buy an existing Cobra, and change everything, or to start from new, and build it from the ground up.

Maybe I'll get into that sometime.

I recon' I've probably ended up with a pretty quick, and well sorted Cobra, but it was a bit of a trip getting there.

Regards,

Warren.
