New Victorian Club

G’day All,

My name is Cameron Biggelaar and I am the President of the Melbourne Cobra Owner’s Club Inc.

The club has been formed by large bunch of cobra enthusiasts who were previously meeting on an informal basis for cruises and the like. Most were not members of any other club but as the group has been expanding and starting to behave like a club, it was felt that the group should formalise itself and become incorporated so that its members had legal protection and that the group would be able to be insured.

The committee is focused on the club being family friendly as that is what our members want and we will cater accordingly. Regular cruises are being organized starting in the spring. We have set up a web site and SMS service for notices that members can access. The club is insured for public liability and we have been given all appropriate permissions.

Snaketails will be forwarded to members starting in the new financial year and the CCCNSW has given consent for our members to compete at the Nationals held at Wakefield.

Currently, the membership base is about forty. New members are welcome.

If you have any questions please post them or contact me privately via cbiggelaar (at) yahoo.com.au.

Regards

Cameron Biggelaar
President
MCOCI.

Well...... welcome to the madhouse camb.

Most of us who are long time regulars here have noticed some past tensions within the Melbourne cobra community.

I guess this signals a formal split in the ranks.

Again welcome and keep us up to date with your activities.

Can we expect to see y'all at the Shelby Fest?
Richard

Welcome to the community. :)

Can you post your web site address here for those that are interested?

What ever works

Hi Cameron,

This is bitter sweet news.

If this was the only way the "tensions" could be sorted then congratulations.

How many members will be attending the nationals? Any first timers?

Phil

Hi Guys,

Welcome to the madhouse is right ... but we wouldn't have it any other way!!

There is a contingent going up to the nationals, at this stage 6 confirmed and I'm pretty confident we can get a few more up there before all is said and done.

As for a website we have one that caters for paid members, requires login, and we're working on one for non members.

In the mean time until we get the site up, if anyone is interested in coming along to a cruise or one of our club nights then just drop me an email. We have a dinner/meeting every even calendar month in South Melbourne where we usually have a guest presenter, and every odd month a meeting combined with a cruise (hard to do over winter) and of course the various runs in between.

Look forward to seeing you all at the Nationals.

Cheers,
Cam.

Hi Cameron. How much is membership? And can you tell us a little about the member's website? Eg, does it have a forum or gallery, etc?

Thanks,
Paul

Camb

It would be good to 'Post' any events or runs here on the 'Forum' for everyone to view.

%/

This 'Forum' is always viewed/used by both individuals and the Clubs to announce events and then report on them after.

Look forward to hearing what is happening and more about the cruises, meetings and events that your club is organising. Again you may see the value in 'Posting' here on the forum as I'm sure there are others who may attend even though perhaps not members of any club...**)

Welcome aboard Cam, Congratulations on getting the club up and running.

Thought I better get the VCCC 5 cents worth in, and a bit of info for Paul.

The Victorian Cobra car club has been around for over 14 years, we average 20-30 get togethers a year, including a few major weekend getaways. We usually have at least 12 family friendly meetings a year. If you wish to test your skills on the track, this year we’ll run Shelby Fest, Heathcote, DECA, Drag Tag and a local Motorkhana.
A profit from Shelby Fest this year has subsidised the membership to keep it to $65, this includes Cams affiliation fees. Love to have you onboard. Membership is over 100 at the moment including some from SA, Tassie and the NT . We welcome duel membership and don’t discriminate if you wish to join the Melb COC’s.
