Default LS1 Straight Thermostat Housing

Is anyone using a straight thermostat housing on their LS1? If so did you weld it, or buy a replacement item from where and what part number. Did you use the standard thermostat or buy a different one? I see on the LS1 Forum site some people recommend using a thermostat set at different temperature rating.
Thanks
Bruce

Macloft,

I bought a few of these in for the LS1 guys here, and have a couple left if you are interested. They are made by CSR.

The housing needs to be slightly machined out if you wish to use a standard thermostat.

PM me if interested.

Regards,

Ben

A standard V8 Holden t'stat will fit them just nice.
I drilled a hole in the side of the stat as the OEM unit has a relief hole built in as standard.
The Holden unit will have a bit of movment in the housing, if this annoys you an O ring will take up the play.

Bruce,

I machined the CSR housing to suit LS2 thermostat. At the time I did it there were not any diff temp thermos available for the LS2 only for the LS1. The LS1 will not fit the LS2 houing unfortunately.

Phil
