Hello
Thought I would say hello from new cobra builder. Collected Harrison #77 on 24th June then trailered home to Townsville. Progress is fine at present only a little head scratching, although works seems to get in the way.
Regards Lionel |
Welcome, great to see another Harrison builder on these forums.
No need to head scratch, if you have any questions just throw them out here in the forum. It's normally the stupid stuff that tends to stump you. Have fun with your build. |
Welcome Lionel. Gee that's funny, I've got Harrison #76 and it hasn't been delivered yet!
Which engine are you going to run? Also did you get the IRS or live rear axle? Paul |
I've got Harrison #75 and it hasn't been delivered yet! Lionel must have some pics of Warwick to black mail him with.
Welcome Lionel |
Daytona's are quicker
Hey 76 & 77,
My Harrison Daytona # 2 arrived last week...   STIFFY |
I'll be in Townsville with my Cobra in a couple of weeks. I'll come say hello. PM me your details and we'll catch up.
|
Welcome to the forum Lionel,
I have Harrison #73 and I have the same engine gearbox combination as you. Good luck with the build. As Craig said previously, the guys on the forum are great for anything that has you stumped. regards Mick |
Sambo
I have ordered the L76 and six speed should arrive in two weeks. Have got the r32 rear end. Actually had the car rolling first day home easier to get it off the trailer by yourself. Actually I was supposed to be #76 but someone had a whoops and I got #77. Lionel :3DSMILE: |
Funny, I was #77 until a few months ago but the reason I got #76 was not because of a "whoops". Suffice to say that they're not numbered in the order they're built. In my case I believe it was due to another customer delaying their order due to an engine not being available at the right time.
Did you order your engine from W.A.S.P. like Rebel1 and Schipps did? |
Well done Lionel. I am somewhere in that order sequence (rolling chassis with some extra fitments) as well and will keep in touch from the Sunshine Coast. I am getting the LS2 motor. The L76 is the slightly earlier version of that?
Merv |
Merv, the LS2 was supplied to HSV for their range, whereas the L76 is the engine supplied to Holden for the SS Commodore. Both are Euro 3 emissions compliant. They're different in that the displacement on demand (DoD) is working for the LS2, but with the L76 some of the DoD hardware is there but it's not enabled. I believe they have different heads (better flowing on the L76?) but the L76 has a small cam and makes less power out of the box. Both engines respond terrifically to a chip/cam/exhaust package and the L76 is a thousand or so $$$ cheaper. They also have different computers and I'm sure there's some other details that I've overlooked...
|
L76 has the big rectangular intake ports. When I was speaking to PNeall this morning I described them as, "flowing like a mongrel".
In the US, people are putting these L92 heads (same as L76) with the Aussie L76 intake manifold onto LS2's. In fact onto any LS* engine with a 4 inch or bigger bore. If you change the cam in both an LS2 and an L76, the L76 will make more power and torque everywhere than the LS2. |

Sambo,
I have ordered my engine from a local mechanic also a cobra owner, was same price as ordering anywhere else and he will give hands on support if I gets to head scratchin:CRY: . I don't anticipate too much trouble as I repair locomotives for a living, these little engines should be easy. Lionel |
The engines themselves haven't changed a lot over the years, it's the black box electronics that seem to pose the most problems. Once you get those little gremlins sorted you should be right by the sounds of it. And nothing beats local support. Good luck with it mate.
|
Gawddd....what's with Townsville lately...you are what....second or third in a short time to get a kit?.
Gotta be overpaid. ;) Ohhhhhh...welcome to the madhouse Lionel... good to see another harrison with LS power. |
Better heads and matching intake make the difference...
