Finally Registered!
Well this morning the car finally went through at Vic Roads and it's all registered and legal, Hooray!!
Had a few frustrating times with Vic Roads with Vin number stamping requirements and the date of manufacture on the RWC was wrong. Once those were sorted out it breezed through.
I'm a happy man at the moment.
Cheers

Hey Mr. Mike, congratulations on getting it on the road. Thanks for taking us along for the ride with all the pictures and commentary. Hope it is all you had hoped for, now what about another project to keep those skills honed....

Congrats Mike but don't despair lend your keys to somebody and they'll drive it down to the Tivoli for you, and for us to admire!!
What were the VIN stamping difficulties you struck? I'd like to avoid these if forewarned.
Cheers
Steve

Aussie Mike,
There's that little moment...after you leave the rego office and sit in your car and just think to yourself...YES ! I've won.
That moment will stay with me forever.
Good on you and may all your driving be in fine weather.

Unfortunately there won't be much oportunity to drive it on the street till after the nationals. The dump pipes are going back on along with the race rubber in preparation. Some quiet side pipes will go on when I get back from Wakefield.
I think your right Rob. I certainly felt like a weight was lifted when I drove out. And the car seemed to run and drive better too. It was a very enjoyable drive home.
Slowy, With the VIN number I found it was hard to make clean impression in the chassis. The rails are some fairly hard steel and it's tight to get in there with a hammer to take a decent swing. Double stampings are a no no i.e. where your first hit didn't make a good impression so you sit the punch in the groove and have a nother hit. You can end up with a bit of a double image and they won't approve it. I ended up getting a strip of steel and using my hydraulic press to press the numbers into it. I then welded the strip to the chassis. I've got a good set of number and letter punches that are the right size if you need them.
Paul, the forum has been a great place to meet new friends with a common interest. I'm looking forward to finally meeting up with heaps of people from on here as I get to different events around the place.
Get cracking Dale, you cant be far off rego.
Cheers

Mike, you realise we have met - it was the July club meeting I think? Anyway I'm planning to get along to a few club events so I'll probably get to see it soon.
Either way it would be interesting to hear you experiences with the whole engineering/rego/VicRoads process. I'm sure other Victorians who are yet to finish their cars would also benefit. But not until you've put some decent miles on that shiny new odometer of course!

Yes, I remember you from the meeting Paul. My earlier response was for the the other Paul (Heidelberg). I'm keen to catch up some time soon. Give me a yell if I you need help with your build.
I've generally only gone to the club meetings as I felt like a bit of a 5th wheel at some of the events when I haven't had my car finished. It's great to see everyones cars and all but a bit painful at the same time when I would think of my unfinished car at home. Now that the car is on the road I'll be doing a lot more events.
Cheers

No worries Mike, and thanks for the offer - perhaps when you're back from OS? Yeah the two meetings I've been to I reckon I could've just asked a million questions of everyone - but that's hardly fair, despite the amount of shared knowledge. Great bunch of people though!
