Sydney Dyno Day

On Sunday I went with Greg (Ls1 AC Cobra) to the Dyno day that was on over at Arncliffe. Pleanty of nice Vettes, Camaros and Mustangs.

Only one Cobra hit the dyno, Dennis's red one pulled 360 rwhp with a bad tune.

An impala with a stock 454 pulled 180 rwhp. Highest of the day was a stock Z06 that got 427 rwhp!

Greg did not enter his very tidy CR, but probably would have got third with his almost stock LS1.:MECOOL:

You'd be surprised buddy dont underestimate that big block,
maybe you should have gone !

Beejay 09-05-2007 05:00 AM

I stand corrected.

Evidently the shop owner put his Vette on the rollers later and pulled 450 rwhp or so with his 454!

From the graphs:

Dennis's Cobra is running dangerously lean at the top-end!

The Z06 has at least 20 - 30 HP up it's sleeve with those mid 11 AFR's

Beejay 09-06-2007 06:55 AM

Sounds about right Plums.

The car was booked in for some carby work to fix it before the nationals.

It was a fresh 408 stroker.

Imagine one of those engines in a Cobra with individual throttle bodies... ;)

Aussie Mike 09-07-2007 04:58 AM

You won't need to imagine it for long. I know of a blue and white Cobra getting that combination installed soon.

Ben , Steve the guy that runs the shop over here is the same guy that did my F100.
He is a very nice guy , but know how to charge.
By the way Sonny did a L76 with only a cam and got 315 RWKW. (422 rwhp)
Sorry Ford boys but thats some good power from very little cash.
I cant wait for my one to arrive this week.
All i need to do now is keep the bloody thing on the road and in a straight line.

Rebel1 09-07-2007 07:00 PM

Slowy, you're putting in a L76?.

Be great to get your opinion as to the difference between your old engine and the L76.

If there is any difference that is.

Cheers

And that "little cash" just got less. As posted on the L76 ebay thread, Holmart have the L76 for $4500 inc GST.

That is just an amazing price for a 6Ltr, all alloy engine with excellent heads.

That $2000.00 reduction will go a long way to a better cam and springs.

Even if these $4500.00 Engines were " a little loose" they sure would be a great starting point for a nice stroker and let's say 500hp.

Beejay 09-08-2007 04:48 AM

Paul,

I was pretty impressed with those guys, they warmed the cars up well, checked oil etc before a power run.

When it comes down to LS engines I think it comes down to Sam's, Marrano's and Castle Hill Exhaust.

Hey Slow
Didn't you put it into a tree with the ls1,what are we going to read about this time with the L76?
Cheers
