Just lost my drivers liscence today

I am shattered that I can't drive the Cobra:CRY:
Some background:- I had a stroke about thre weeks ago and lost some vision. The doctor in the hospital informed Vicroads of the loss of vision which I can't detect and they pulled my licence. I am seeing my GP tomorrow to se if anything can be done.
Cheers,
Bryan

That sucks! Hope you get things worked out!

Ron61 10-17-2007 05:32 AM

:(

Bryan,

I am really sorry to hear that. I am facing the possibility of the same thing except it is because of my nerves and was caused by the breakdown that I had. That was one reason I sold my Cobra as I couldn't stand the thought of it setting here and me not being able to drive it if I can get my nerves under control enough to keep my license. My doctor is working with me and trying different medicines to see if they can find something that will stop the blank periods I have when my nerves get past a certain point. Best of luck and God willing you will be ok. You are far to young for something like this. :)

Ron :)

Hopefully with a pair of glasses with a correction perscription you could pass a vision test. In my area (Mass.) we've had one driver arrested for his 5th Drunk Driving offense, and in the vehicle he was driving the Breathalizer to start his vehicle HAD BEEN DEFEATED !!
Also a woman in her 70's crashed into a Hospital entrance killing a Doctor and Receptionist.

Bloody Hell

Bryan,
Sounds like you have had 3 weeks from hell.

Keep strong, these things seam to work themselves out.

Brian, Make an appointment with two optometrists to have your vision checked....ask for a report from each on your visual acuity. Ensure they check you have satisfactory peripheral vision.

You are looking for a result of 6/12 (same as 20/40) with both eyes open.

If your vision is worse then don't give up hope. Go back after 3 months and check if any improvement. Do eye exercises twice a day. Wear sun glasses in sunlight.

If your visual acurity is the above or better go see your GP and advise him of the licence loss and give him the optometric reports. Have him write to Vic roads advising of the improved vision.

Some people may only suffer mild and passing effects after a stroke. Let's hope this is you.

Cheers and best of luck.
Les

I like your stuff - bugger the stroke ... I can't drive my car!!

But seriously take care of yourself and God willing it will all pan out for the better one way or another.

Brian

Dont give up, my cousin at 24 had 3 strokes and lost eye sight. She is like a horse with blinkers on and has been like it now for 12 years. She is still legally permitted to drive (NSW).

Look after yourself stress is not a good thing to have at the moment

*Cobber* 10-17-2007 07:02 AM

Bryan,

Your health is number one so look after yourself first and most importantly don't stress it's only a licence.

Some R&R and things will come good.

look after that ticker.

As I read these Post from down under. I realize there is a lot of govt. regulation there, and I thought California was bad. Take care of yourself, and get back into the driver's seat soon..............

Vision defect

Thanks for all the well wishes from everyone.
Les, the problem is with peripheral vision there is an area in the upper left quadrant where I don't see movement eg. While sitting watching the idiot box if i look at the floor 6 ft to the left I can see the screen and what is going on on th TV set if I look 6ft to the right of the TV I don't even see the TV set. So that's the problem:(
Cheers,
Bryan
