Merv, are you talking about Vintage wheels from the States? I remember reading a few months ago that they can't do the necessary backspace on the Harrison with Nissan IRS?

I did check when I ordered mine they only do two sizes in the 17" rims 4.65" & 5" backspacing on the rear, That's why I went for the custom rear end.

Thanks guys. I am still thinking of the Dragway wheels with the sandblasted centres/Halibrand-type. I KNOW that they fit the Harrison in 17" with the required offsets. Just deciding whether to go for black centres. Have posted a couple of pics in my gallery.

Hey Merv
Looks like you downloaded my screen saver. Thats the same look I am going for. Question over black Fibreglass and black interior in the Queensland heat though but my heart tells me bugger it. I love the stealth look. Bruce |
It is Bruce! (And you have my middle name!). I am going to have a black body and dash and the seats in the old English green leather that one sees in Bentleys and on Chesterfield couches. The steering wheel will also be a black Motolita and I am using a fairly traditional looking dash done in 2mm ally with Classic Instruments gauges and all Lucas switches and knobs (some MGA). Heat? Well I figure that any colour will get hot and the mornings and afternoons are the best time to drive anyway! I am planning on a hardtop as well and may retro-fit AC then. Wheels will have black centres. No sidepipes and the bonnet scoop will be bolted on with hex head SS bolts. Under the skin all 2008 but on top as authentic looking as one can do with the ADRs. I pick up my rolling chassis at the end of this month with all suspension and brakes and steering installed, brake and fuel lines run, clutch and brake master cylinders fitted, pedals fitted, rollbars (also black), door locks done and all light and bonnet fittings cut. I have also ordered a detachable hub for the steering wheel. Still heaps to do but I have finished the dash and ordered many other bits so I will have a busy Christmas! Keep me posted on your developments.
best, Merv |
I've only had mid-dark blue and black cobra bodies...no problems with QLD heat in my experience.
Black seats, well if you are leaving the car out in the sun, get some nice labelled/logo'd towels to throw over them or get a torneau cover. :) By the sounds of it you guys are building some very nice Cobras, can't wait to see the finished product. Mine Cobra is progressing, I spent a good few hours on it today...life is good. Can't wait to get the Halibrands & big rubber onto it. |
