Default Head lights

Busy assembling here and looking for any suggestions re headlights.

I have received headlight plastic buckets and all fittings including the sealed beam (Wagner) but no instructions for fitting the many small bits. Also, I am now advised that the lights are non-compliant with ADR as they have no separate park light. I would need to use the existing buckets and fit a QH bulb and park light to another headlift frame within the extisting bucket. (?) Seems a long way round. I am interested in a decent QH system that complies. Is there an easier way?

You can buy metal buckets through Narva i think, and just buy the correct QHalogen lights with parker light provision if you want new gear.

Mini buckets with QH lights basically the same option. You could probably could just toss the sealed beams and achieve compliance!

I'm surprised you found one that doesn't have separate park bulb.

I When you say QH, you mean you want a headlight with separate plug-in H4 halogen bulb. Just want to be sure we are on the same page.

They are pretty easy to find.

I would recommend finding a curved face QH unit. The curved face looks much better in my opinion on Cobras.

This will give you an idea of what to look for: (Have a look at the extra images tab for the rear photo)
http://www.snakebite.com.au/7halogen...ach-p-151.html

I'll see if I can post some instructions/photos on assembly.

Speak to Anthony at Classic and vintage bulbs. He supplies new good quality original pattern steel headlight buckets. he also has the correct MGB trim rings used on the Cobra (mini trim rings are to large diameter).

Classic and Vintage Bulbs

I picked up a Narva H4 lamp kit with park lights and QH bulbs for about $100. These got me thru rego OK and throw out a pretty good light.

Cheers

Merv, what body have you got?

DRB (not sure about DRB 2000) and D-Type Cobras need to use the Mini rims. Same headlight opening but larger diameter on the base. Both will fit same bucket.

It is a Harrison, David. Thinking I may have to get a new Narva H4 Lamp kit and ft it in the buckets that I have.

Merv, I have the metal buckets and H4 kit from Classic and Vintage Bulbs on my Harrison. Anthony gave me the option of plastic or metal buckets, so there's a fair chance your plastic buckets will accept his headlights. He provides excellent service too.

Rough pricing:

E-marked H4 headlamps (convex) with park globe: $90 pair
Retainer rim: $30 pair
Chrome headlamp rim: $80 pair

Cheers

Merv, you will be able to fit any headlight into your existing buckets.

Those buckets you have will be the same in operation to our plastic buckets.

I'll put up some instructions on our web site on how to fit/remove headlights from these buckets. I'll post here when they are done.

David, the DRB 2000 still has the same front guard shape, so you can still use the larger chrome rims.

You can also fit the smaller chrome rims on DRB's. They end up being slightly smaller than the front guard, but actually look alright. Just depends on the look you are going for.

Thanks again Craig and David for excellent advice. Off to Repco today to see what they have that fits (in Narva).

Best,

Merv

Merv, I've added some instructions to our site to detail how to add/remove the headlight.

http://www.snakebite.com.au/headligh...ach-p-159.html

Look under the Fitment tab.

Hope it helps.

Thanks Merv, you are too kind. I'm no expert, but always willing to listen and learn.

Don't worry we have all been in your shoes...you quickly get on top of things though.
