Hi Guys,
I have for sale a 4.6 Cobra quad cam engine complete with all accessories, key and loom. Also comes with original gearbox out of car, I believe it to be a T45 according to reciept. I paid $9500.00 I will sell for $9000.00. Attachment 13562 Attachment 13563 PH:0402 116 450 Steve |
Decided to switch to a Dark Side motor? :p
|
Fantastic engine. :) But no longer emissions compliant in most of our states. :(
Mike, looks like the dark side is getting more and more converts. |
Not me!!!
And wait until Ford - Jaguar release its new engine that might be a ripper!! |
According to my engineer any US engine after 96 still complies, reason for selling is that I was going to put it in my GT40. There was a lot of work to fit it in my 40, so yes I have decided to go for an Ls engine. Would suit someone who has started the chassis fab to suit this engine from the start.

I was just stiring you Ford guys up but now we know.
Welcome to the Dark Side Steve. :3DSMILE: Cheers |

I would be very happy if I was proved wrong though. Did you say GT40...now we are talking. :D |
Advice is from an RTA approved engineer, I also have an Ultima that will recieve an LS1.
|
An Ultima - way cool.
How far along are you? Ben |
I have the chassis and suspension that are completed, I have now almost finished making the body, front clip to make and then on to the alloy panels for the chassis.

5.4
If you want to keep your gt40 all ford why not put in the 5.4. We have just finished one with a Boss 290 motor. It's in a Roaring Forties. I like the idea of an LS motor and are just starting another classic revival with a 6.0 litre LS. You know times are tough when Python have seen the light and are putting Ls2 in their chassis.**)

Craig,
As you are aware (I think) I am putting a 4.6 into a Harrison and the engineer (Ray Cross) has a letter from the commonwealth dept (DOTARS) that covers all the ADR requirements and emmissions. This letter states that all engines manufactured in the US after year 2000 (and imported into Aust) are Euro 3 (US Tier 2 Federal EPA or LEV1 California clean air board) compliant. My engine is out of a 2004 Mach 1 Mustang. Euro 3 is still in place in Aust until 1 July 2008 when the Euro 4 regs are put in place(and then possibly a 3 year moritorium). The enabling legislation for this is already in place and passed by parliment (you can down load a copy of the enabling legislation from the DOTARS web site). The engine in the photo looks like a pre 2000 year model possibly 1996 or thereabouts. I will be well and truly finished before 1 July 08 Regards Col Hodson |
I think Col's advice matches something I was told the other day and that is the 5L AU I've been rushing to get engineered this year is compliant yet for another year!
Bloody polys can't make up their minds!! Cheers |
Depends who you ask and what side of the bed they got out on %/
|
No Col, I didn't know that. I thought the option of 4.6lt was a thing of the past, although July 2008 means that it is not an option for most builders anyway. A lot of people think that up here. Thanks for the info. I'm not really across the current regs that well, not building a car, so don't have to be.
Stephen, I'm 99.9% confident that Ford 5L is no longer compliant for all of us in the East. Well definitely in QLD anyway...unless someone has a change of heart. |
Well unless my whisperer was just having a lend and stir of me but I'm guessing as a manufacturer down here he should know.
The line was the compliance rule were re-read properly and AU engines have more time. I'll quiz this person more tomorrow night for clarity! |
Thanks Stephen, we have a lot of builders here rushing Foird 5lt builds to have them finished by the end of this year. Certainly the engineers up here think that the 5lt is non-compliant next year.
I actually wonder if they will give a bit of leeway to builders who don't quite make the cut-off. They certainly gave a lot of leeway when we changed away from 37/00(carby). |
