mcdonald

Lindsay,

Not a bad idea to keep the sun off the head. I have also purchased an a/c unit. So I'll be up to get the boys to put it in.

Will be an all round nice car to drive the 4 hours each way then..

I'm not sure about the trip to the US will see if I can head over for the London event in Ohio. Thats in June.

Will talk soon.

Bernie

Hi Trev,

How did you get your Cobra transported to Perth?

My SPF has arrived in Melbourne and CTC are researching how/who they'll use to get my Cobra delivered to me Perth.

My SPF is still just a rolling chassis at the moment and needs motor/gearbox installed, so any recommended freight/car transport companies from anyone would be welcome!

Regards......Paul

Hi Paul
In my experience you will either have to drive over there and pick it up yourself or go over and pack it into a shipping container YOURSELF and get the shipping container shipped on the train or by truck. Because yours is painted already I wouldnt take the chance of getting it damaged. I was told because the car doesnt drive it will be forked and it doubled the price. So i drove down to Sydney and picked it up. Cost was about the same as putting it on the train.

I think someone made an error with my shipping costs,
I bought body and chassis from CR, It was tied onto a pallet, TNT Freight moved it from Sydney to Alice Springs.
They charged me $100 for 1 pallet load from Sydney to Alice Springs, I couldnt pay fast enough and escape before they realised what they had transported.

Mmmm would defdinately not rail it. The GT40 was damaged.

Hate to say it but I would drive it across. Sounds hard but take three days and stop at a few larger towns. ...would run the engine in...

Just looking at the Google map of the route to Perth. It looks good to me. Are
these roads not good?.
Driving with Bernie to Mt Gambier was good. I found the roads to be pleasant with a great view all around. From there out I can't imagine it any
worse. I hope I get to drive that route someday. Perth looks to be a cool place to visit.

Hi Hersh,

The roads from Melbourne are good, and it's a great drive to experience at least a couple of times in your life!

As "Plums" (aka Bobby) states though, it's not an option for me as my SPF is without engine & gearbox, so it would be a long arduous journey pushing my new cobra from Melbourne to Perth!

Hersh, Perth is a great city to visit and if you ever do get the urge to visit the West, I'd be happy to show you around and co-ordinate a few of the Perth based Cobra Club members for a BBQ or excuse to get together and talk Cobras!

Thanks for all your comments on the transport options guys, CTC (the SPF importers) are organising the transport in an enclosed carrier....I'll just cross my fingers that she makes it to me OK...She's made it from South Africa so far without incident!

Regards.....Paul

Hersh,

The trip across to Perth is not one that I have done via road. It is similiar to the 80 from Phoenix north. Dry and not a lot to see. Mmmm sand and more sand..

However if the trip is broken up it would be a different drive. You just need to watch the kangaroos, emus and Australia aboriginals on the road..

Don't get me wrong I'm not organising a trip in the Gt40. We will do the trip north to Queensland first..

Bernie

Heidelberg

The CTC guys will look after transportation.

I thought they may have been fitting the running gear. .. yes would be hard to push it over... although fuel stops could be by passed at $1.90 a litre.

The Cobra was tied down in container. I placed tape all around the edge of the boot/trunk to keep the lot sealed from dirt and dust.

When it arrived in Perth they tried to start the Cobra, but had left the ignition on and the battery was flat.

Instead of taking the tape off carefully, they just ripped it like a hair wax strip and damaged the paint.

Hell, it weighs so much they just could not have pushed it out.

.......

After taking deliver of the GT40, I suggest that there is a little fun in driving a GT40 and a Cobra out of the containers and parking them in the storage yard..

Bet that you are excited about the arrival of the SPF..

Thanks Bernie,

You bet I'm excited...

CTC are using TNT to transport my Cobra and Colin & Shelly from CTC are coming over to Perth to receive it from TNT and to deliver the car to me in about 2 weeks time!

I've got a reputable performance workshop in York lined up to install my LS7 and T56....I feel like a little kid the night before Christmas!

Hi Heidelberg,

The workshop in York sounds extremely suspicious, if my thinking is right the only things that come out of that
workshop up there are SUPERCHARGED, is my thinking right?

Trev bought his 'Bernie Cobra' to the Perth club meeting on Wednesday night and got the show off parking space right
at the front door and was a main attraction of the night a fantastic car,
(Trev we are all hoping you will come on the next run, so we can see it in the daylight, you are on the club emailing list).

Bernie - your clever use of aluminium on the car was admired by every one, I bet the sales of aluminium rise here in Perth next week.

Paul, you missed an excellent meeting with the guys giving us the talks on gas injection and engine management systems for
performance engines using, turbos and superchargers on LPG gas. It was a very entertaining hour.
So, it wont be long and you will be having a shed run to your place, I can hardly wait.
There are a lot of new Cobra's being done over here at the moment, the next 12 month's will see a lot of them on the road.

Harry.

G'day Harry,

Yes, it's the same workshop you're thinking about...Mark will be installing my LS7 without any forced air though! My LS7 will be stock standard out of the crate!

I'd be more than happy to hold a shed run at my place as soon as I get my car home!

Sounds like the meeting this week went well...I'll look forward to meeting everyone at the club at the next meeting.

Regards......Paul

By the time you get it breathing well with good headers & a good exhust you would havre to be close to, or in excess of 550HP with that LS7.

Paul, you are obviously a man who like to push the envelope.

We've been changing cams, re-programming the stock ECU, good headers and heading toward 700HP with the LS7 SL-C my brother will be racing over in the USA later this year.

I would love to fit an LS7 to a car here.
