ShelbyFest lift
With the temporary demise of my car, I'm out of the full weekend's participation.:(
But I am keep to try and get a lift up there early morning Saturday returning whenever that night. :JEKYLHYDE Anyone going with a spare seat I could occupy? I live in the SE suburbs of Melbourne. Let me know if there is a spare seat going please. :3DSMILE: Cheers Steve |

thats nasty!!! is your insurance repairing?
|
OUCH!!!! WHAT HAPPENED!!!!??? Round a bout?
|
Yes spot on all three of you,
it does hurt - the pride insurance covered - thank God bloody useless driver on a round about - not quite but almost giving way!! Worst of all I'm missing the good driving weather!! |
Mate, I am sorry to see, feel and hear your pain! If its only pride and fibreglass that has suffered then you have done OK!
I can tell you of at least 3 cases up here in te last year where a cobra and a roundabout have come to a head!! Seems teh roundabout ALWAYS has the last laugh.. Sorry to see mate but glad your OK! You have the NATS to prepare for!! SpookyPT |
If you get a lift to Wangaratta we can pick you up on the way to the track
 Shame about the car mate, hope there's not much damage |
Sorry to see that picture Stephen :( At least it lives to fight another day!!!
Cobra's and roundabouts (some of them anyway) don't mix due to the roundabout centre obstruction to Cobra size (and no roof) ratio. Look at a Cobra from dead side on and you can't even see the windscreen, meaning that some of the larger roundabouts with big (high) centre obstructions basically hide a Cobra till it may be too late.... my 2c. |
Hadn't thought about the vision thing.
Seems I'll have to work the bright colour paint onto this thing soon as possible to better protect myself. But the main aim of the post is to see if I can scrounge a lift from a Viccy going to ShelbyFest - any opportunities out there? Cheers |
The damage is a bummer, but more importantly you are ok and in the end that's all that really counts. :)
Sorry Stephen, looks like I can't help with a lift. I will be heading from the airport around 11am Friday, returning back to airport at around the same time Sunday. Whether or not I actually find Wangaratta in between is anyones guess. :D |
Steve,
I'll be heading up Thursday, I'm happy for you to ride shotgun in the REPTYL if you please. |
Jason thanks but am only looking at a full Saturday exercise as mentioned at the start of the thread.
Thanks anyway. Steve |
Steve,
I may well be heading up just for the day on Sxaturday. I wont know 'til mid next week. ( depends on wife's work schedual). If I go it will be an early start fron Kew. JB |
Stephen, Sorry to hear and see your car that way...I hit a mountain last year myself...took 5 months and $21,000 US to fix.....I was a wreck without my car for 5 months.... Dave Shulak from Scottsdale Arizona USA... P.S. I'd love to come to see you in AUSSIELAND SOME DAY..I'M A REAL ANIMAL LOVER....

Late notice is fine and I'd expected an early start so keep in touch. I'll send you a PM with my contact details. Thanks David, what do you mean you hit a mountain? Cheers Steve |

Lots of animals here :eek: |
Slowy, what's the chassis damage ? Good thing it isn't painted that would have made the pain a little more intense. Pick a colour that is easy to match . Mine is expensive and rare....I will pay in the future. ( it's still in the tin )

I was in Apache Junction Arizona east of Phoenix very mountainous. ..I had a 90 degree turn and at the time I had a Flaming River manual rack in my car..no power steering.I pulled a hard left to swing the car around the 90 degree turn and I couldn't swing it far enough around. To the left of me was a 100 ft canyon drop and to the right of me was a mountain alongside about a 20 foot path..The night before stones fell on the path....I skidded on the stones and hit the mountain sideways going about 20 mph...The bonnet and the right front wheel really got clipped...We ran 3 tests on the frame and the frame was fine...$21,000 US and 5 months later I had my car backf rom Scott's Coach Works here in Phoenix....The man that worked on it was from Poland....I gave him the big FFR manual to work from and he gave it back to me..Told me that he never worked from a manual in his life but boy what a great job he did...He made the original welding on the drivers side look sick....when he finished you could not see his welds at all..You can see my car by clicking on the camera beneath my picture ..BEST REGARDS, DAVE SHULAK, SCOTTSDALE ARIZONA

Guys
Seems my one potential lift now can't manage due to family constraints. Is there anyone else going up early Saturday morning and returning the same day or early Sunday morning??? that I might be able to get a lift with? Cheers Steve |
