Need help what colour
My Cobra goes of to get painted next month and still not sure on colour %/ I think i want a silver/Titanium or a slightly darker grey. Any suggestions would be great.
Thanks Greg |
Greg I was hooked on a similar dark gray or Lambo titanium with ghosted stripes. I've decided for now to go with something more colourful... Indigo blue or a deep red with white stripes. Notice I did say "for now". :)
If you browse the photos on this forum you can get some great ideas - or you may just become more confused like I have! Cobra Gallery - FFCobra.com - Factory Five Racing Discussion Forum Good luck with the decision. |

Silver is the new white.
I'd go BRG or Monza red if I had the choice again (mmmm, I do:rolleyes:) http://www.clubcobra.com/photopost/d...newtoy_038.jpg |

I agree with Warren, Titanium is the way to go. It's the new silver.
Warren's photo gallery is like the "Zelig" of titanium Superformance Cobras. I swear there's picture of Warren's car with John F. Kennedy! |
Here is a silver you may like, I was sent this pic as I have 1 of these utes in the back of the shed (much later project).

HSV 300 Greg,
I think everyone whose building a Cobra has the same problem as you presently have. I went through so many different colour schemes. My initial choice was a red with gold stripes, then I went to the new orange Commodore colour known as Ignition Metallic, then I looked at the grey with maroon stripes as shown in the attached photo. I really liked that, but after much thought, wanted something totally different and something that I had never seen in a Cobra colour scheme before. I finally came up with an my final decision of Aqua Marine with additional silver/pearl metallic + the grey/silver stripes running front to rear. Whatever choice you make, good luck as it's probably the biggest decision you will make with your build. The paint job and the interior is the first thing that will will be noticed. In my opinion, it is the most important component of the entire build. No one knows what's under the bonnet until you let those injectors open right up. Whether it's parked or mobile, people will just droul on your choice and presentation of the colour scheme which you yourself have selected, the quality of the quality of the upholhostery and the manner in which your car stands out from everything else. Have a look at my 'Gallery' to see what I considered before making my final decision. Good luck and I hope I have helped your decision. Baz http://www.clubcobra.com/photopost/d...on_stripes.jpg |
Thanks Baz, I really like the sliver but all the Chrome parts don't show up as well as they do on darker cars. Might just put 3 colours in a hat and pull one out.:p

Greg,
Myself and Juggernaut were just talking about this same topic, what color was the toughest question / decision I faced during my build. But since you are thinking a version of grey I have a suggestion I saw that looked great. It was a dark to medium grey/titamium similar to the post by boxhead above, with either black or a dark navy blue stripes, with meatballs, and a red rookie strip over the fender. Really looked good. I get you a picture by I don't have a digital one. Maybe someone else will and post it. Good luck on your choice. Jim |
Hi Greg,
The reason its so hard to decide is............The Cobra looks great in any colour. I am about to get my car painted too. I am going with my heart and simply doing what I think will look good. I decided not to worry about what others think because they wont be driving it (unless thay ask nicely) By the way the colour combos you have suggested sound terrible:LOL::p:LOL: |
dark body with light strips set off chrome nice

Problem Solved
The sexiest "silvery" colour ive seen on any car has got to be the eleanor paint job
Its Gunmetal silver i think Its not too dark yet not too light.. just perfect! Its even got stripes to get an idea of the look on a cobra Eleanor Mustang Head to that page, HEAPS of pics devoted to the worlds SEXIEST Mustang |
I've always been partial to Guardsman Blue w/ Wimbeldon White stripes...or Solid Red. I almost bought the last Red Cobra Shelby had in his shop back in 1967. Man it looked GREAT. Color is a very individual thing though and you should get the color that you will be happiest with...'cause YOU have to live with it!

You can please some of the people some of the time.
You can please the other people some other time . But you can't please all of the people all of the time. Stuff em all... your choice.., your colour ! I learned this from a hot rodder...When you are driving around or waiting in a carpark. Have a look around at the colours.. What's common, What's wrong, what catches your eye. Found a colour ? Now think how it looks in the sun, in the shade, cloudy days, night street lights. look around . I know one bloke that has a blue that is undescribable under fluoros. It goes "weird" . . . .just what every one wants. Smithy. |
It's gotta be the toughest decision. I was all set on silver, thinking about how great black side pipes, roll bar, and carpet would look, then unexpectedly went 180 from that. Black body, silver pipes, roll bar, and carpet. No regrets!
