My thoughts were if I am going to tow around an expensive car why do it on a cruddy trailer. Each to there own BUT it is beautifully made, light, 4 wheel electronic breaking, breakaway, with slide out ramps, spare etc, etc. Made in the good Ole USA... Only 1 other in QLD. Wouldn't swap it for the world!
Acecob..no mods at all except the car is lowered....crazy I know but had it done well before I started towing Cobras around... completely stock. That mileage is based on towing over the Toowoomba range too which sucks it up but I drive on 90K on cruze control and it just putts along... Tows beautifully! With the lighter (and wider) racecar on it I should do even better on the milage although a tire rack will soon be fitted for the 18 x 12 race rubber! SpookyPT |
Regarding 4 door utes. Have a look at some of the caravan magazines. A bloke I know is into touring and vans and i've seen adds where they convert a Landcruiser / Prado into a four door ute...looks pretty good too.

If you are buying one of the 4 door Cruiser/Prado conversions, just check the cars history.
They are normally mine vehicles and have had a very hard life. |
Sorry if this doesn't help you but I assume that Toyota sells their crew cab small pick up in "pre-runner" for down under. I'm using the TRD supercharger on the V6 and it has plenty of oats to pull my open duel-axle trailer with my Boss Mustang. In the following pics you can just barely make out the truck:rolleyes:;

I've towed that car north and south east and west and through 2 mountain ranges with no problems at all and it weighs at least 1000 pounds more than a Cobra. I know that the title of my thread was "a topic not entirely to do with Cobras", but I can't help but thinking that the reaction to your photo's may get reactions that are not entirely on the topic of tow vehicles! Thanks for your comments on the Hilux/Tacoma...it's a great dual cab!...Unfortunately, in Australia, they are not legal for the weight I need to tow/haul! If I had the choice you do in the states, I'd be lining up for a dual cab Toyota Tundra or a GMC 2500! Regards.....Paul |
