Consider the lagal age to vote is 18 and that's the same age you can obtain your licence so it goes that virtually all your car owninging enthusiasts are voters. With the right organisation backing the car enthusiasts significant political pressure could be applied to the government. How many people turn up to the Sumernats each year, how many people read Street Machine or any number of motoring publications. That's hundreds of thousands of people.

I think if enough peoples cars get confiscated then there is going to be a backlash.

I don't see these laws as a threat to my hobby at all.
I doubt that many Aussie Cobra owners (well some exceptions) should feel at risk.
For what it's worth, anyone doing burnouts on public road SHOULD have their car confiscated. Plenty of fun to be had while obeying the law
