And therein is my problem with the law. If you read the previously posted addy to the act any police officer can make the allegation. It is then up to you to spend dollars with solicitors etc., go to court, and even if you win in court...you have still lost.....and, that can happen even if you weren't driving the car at the time but you own that car. ( In the case of you lending your car to your son/daughter)
The copper has put you to a lot of hassle and inconvenience to get your car back.
If you think the police will be fair in any situation you find yourself in then you are a fool.
There are heaps of great police officers, but they are only human and suffer the same emotions we public suffer....and they have bosses who respond to snotty nose politicians.
The problem is they have the authority to enforce their desires....even if wrong.
