Default Which tyres to buy!

I was hopping for a little advise on tyres. The tyres I want to run on the Cobra are
Rear... 285/40/17
Front...235/55/17
I can only find 2 makes to supply these sizes, Pirelli and Kumho. The Pirelli have different tread patterns between front and rear, while the Kumhos are the same. Would this be a problem?

Regards.

G'Day Mando.
Years ago there was a "law" that required the same tread pattern front and rear. as well as same tire diameters front and rear. I don't think you would have any problem now-a-days. Regarding the tyre choice. I LOVE pirellis..every time the rego inspection came due (not every consecutive year) the bloke said ..replace the tyres. they won't last, legally, tread wise, much longer. The tyres (P-6000) performed the same from new to worn out. As for the Kumho's I put a set ( not performance stuff ) on my mums car and they wouldn't wear out ! a bit noisey but just went on and on.- - -get the pirellis. (very biased opinion)

Gday Mando - I bought the kumhos from tyre rack (ecsta SPT), as they were the largest diameter tyres 285\40 and 245\45 in 17's I could find at the time. the reviews were reasonably good and the price was right. I didnt notice 255\35 at the time, but do you realise that gives you a front tire diameter 30mm bigger then the rear? I dont know if that is bad or not, just through I would point it out.

Cheers

I just purchased a set of Khumo's Ecsta SPT 285/35/19 and 245/40/19 from Tire Rack. The tyre performance I read had them rated at 8.2 with the best tyre in the catergory rated at 8.5. They had the sizes I wanted and the price, as Tenrooca said, was right.

Thanks for all the help guys.
Rob, Im with you, I love Pirellis as well, but Im still tossing up all the options. Im not sure if the front tyres are really suited to the rears. They seem to be completely different from each other. Tire Rack are asking $99 for the fronts and $365 for the rears, where the Kumhos are $108 for the front and $136 for the rears.
Tenrocca Iam aware the fronts will sit 30mm higher than the rears but thats the look Im trying to get. I want my car to sit slightly up at the front.
Thanks again.

Regards.
