LS1 Engine Number Location

Went for a VIN number today but could not find the engine number to validate paper work.
Where is engine number on an LS1 (not casting number)
Thanks Bruce

It's normally on the front of the block. There is a flat area in front of the drivers side cylinder head just above the water pump. The number should be stamped there. If you are running a crate motor most of them didn't have engine numbers and you will have to apply for one or make up your own.

Cheers

the one used by my engineer is the one stamped on the left hand side below the head. quite a long number from memory.

Funny my motor came out of a corvette in USA but I can find no number.

Mine was a US Camaro/firebird motor. It's got an engine number now. There was a serial number/stock number on the receipt for the crate motor and I used that.

You can see the number in front of the drivers side cylinder head before the rater pump.
