Latest update
Well I have been working hard to make a few changes to my Cobra before heading down to the Nationals.
I decided that I wanted to make it all one color, so I went to my panel beater mates shop to order some paint, I told him it was just to squirt some color on to take the car away, he told me that I should rub it all down and take to him and he will put some tinted primer on the car. He said if I applied a color, I would have to remove it all before painting in 2Pak. I have also decided I wanted to make the smaller aero style screen that I had been talking about for a while and had floating in my head, it is nothing special at this stage but it does the job. Here are some pics. http://www.clubcobra.com/photopost/d..._08_08_001.jpg http://www.clubcobra.com/photopost/d..._08_08_003.jpg I also bought some Raydot style mirrors. http://www.clubcobra.com/photopost/d..._08_08_001.jpg http://www.clubcobra.com/photopost/d..._08_08_005.jpg Here it is this morning, all stripped apart and rubbed down on its way to the panel shop. http://www.clubcobra.com/photopost/data/500/s_004.jpg http://www.clubcobra.com/photopost/data/500/s_005.jpg I will pick it up tomorrow morning and get it home to apply some stripes then reassemble. |

You mean to say I gotta go find that camera, then go buy some batteries, then take some pics, then copy them to this puter?.
Sheez..ya not askin much are ya? Ohhhh, ok, see wot I can do in the next week. :) |

Well I had a good productive weekend, picked the car up from the painter on Saturday morning, all painted in primer.
http://www.clubcobra.com/photopost/d...Pattos_001.jpg http://www.clubcobra.com/photopost/d...Pattos_002.jpg Then when I got it home I masked up for the main stripes, I did these as per the ERA website info. http://www.clubcobra.com/photopost/d...tripes_001.jpg http://www.clubcobra.com/photopost/d...tripes_002.jpg http://www.clubcobra.com/photopost/d...tripes_003.jpg I forgot to get some pics when masked up for the pin stripe (but it looked the same). Here it is all unmasked and striped up, before refitting anything else. http://www.clubcobra.com/photopost/d...tripes_004.jpg http://www.clubcobra.com/photopost/d...tripes_005.jpg As you can see, the pin stripe in the oil cooler in my opinion looks too "busy" I sould have just painted the edge black and been done with it, but did not see it until all was unmasked. Oh well atleast this isnt the finished product so I will know when it comes time for real paint. This next pic is pretty close to the actual color, and I have refitted most parts (everything except wheels, roll bar and side pipes) http://www.clubcobra.com/photopost/d...tripes_007.jpg Here it is with the roll bar and pipes fitted (sorry about the poor light and the dust on camera lens). http://www.clubcobra.com/photopost/d...tripes_011.jpg Just need to refit the fuel tank after making a boot latch bracket and she will be ready for the Nationals (only 26 more sleeps before I start my drive over from Alice Springs). |
Gawd ... that looks great even just in primer. The front oil cooler thing looks good to me.
Is that an epoxy primer? |
Great Stuff Boxhead - looking very nice now - I bet you're cheeks are sore from grinning :)
Good luck with the rest of the assembly LoBelly |
Hey there Les, Thanks for the comments, it is painted in 2K primer, the painter added 10% yellow tint to the primer.
Hi there LoBelly, yes I was grinning like an idiot most of yesterday, I got a great nights sleep last night (have been un able to sleep the past week thinking how it was going to look) The rest of the assembly is easy (touch wood). |

Boxhead,
I like the look, not to busy IMO. I was thinking of doing something similar to the Daytona for the Nationals...... STIFFY |
