I think 'daylight' was second.

At least that's what it looked like in the bit I saw on the news...

This race in Australia used to be a great one but is now reduced to two manufacturers, and only two models from them - Falcon and Commodore - in external appearance at least.

When one considers reports that GM may well go under in the current US financial crash it maybe only Fords next year. How boring would that be! It would be great if we could also see Nissan GTRs, Porsche GT3s, Lancer Evos and Subaru Rexes at Bathurst against the two 'stock' cars that we are dished up.

Run what you brung and hope you brung enough!

I enjoyed watching Bathurst when it was a mix of cars od all different configurations. Who remebers watching the Jag XJ12s runnig round or the BMWs.

What keeps the current formula watchable for mee is the camera work and the in car footage. I just wish it was a little more varied in the machinery out there rather than a 2 horse race.

Cheers

C'mon are you for real ,when the series was looking rocky we were all screaming that we need to go back to the classic battle of Ford Vs Holden we've now got that and you want to now go back to Ba$tardising the series again .......
The real solution is to dump Channel 7's appalling AD filled coverage..Bring back 10......and remove the entrenched Eccelston wanna be's in Cochrane and Co. the series is plaqued by woeful race infringement decisions...resulting in what almost equate to race fixing to manipulate the Championship results...I sat at the lunch table with Cochrane and Co. at Grand Finale at Phillip Island a while back and to hear the conversations at that table re how things were going to pan out if it wasn't scripted i'll go he... they should join shop with the Wrestling in the States!!!!

FORD Vs HOLDEN Is they way it has to be....

Had this same conversation on the weekend while looking at the coverage.

- 'they all look the same' -
- 'not using production engines' - etc

ended up agreeing that the variety of configurations etc was much better, the problem for the majority mullet modelling viewers was that the local marques often didn't stack up so well = dont watch = no cash.

I think NASCAR has all the same body (!?)

Homologation specials of yesteryear were the answer then and created some collectable cars....just a thought

Boring, boring, boring. Commodore look alike versus Falcon look alike. Next year there may only be Ford, if the some of US stock market pundits are right. Let's have some variation and structured classes of vehicles like other major international races. This used to be an interesting race with good marketing angles in which we could all get involved, without losing the confrontation between the high HP models. We can do better!

Now that could be an interesting class.... Even an "historic" Bathurst - as now at Silverstone and Le Mans

To be honest I lost interest when it became a two horse race, I hate looking for no's and names on cars just to make out what brand it is, they look the same and half the time you don't know whats winning, imagine if they didn't have the scrolls with race names and no's telling you positions.
Until they bring back all the others classes , throw in some cobra's as well or maybe a sprinter.

I can remember watching Kevin Bartletts Channel 9 Camaro coming into skyline. The noise made the leaves fall off the trees.

Default Oh what a feeling

I must agree with you guys i hope Toyota get join the fun i just hope they dont have to run a bloody push rod engine to get to compete. even with all the years of development i recon a 4.0 ltr 1uzfe could make more power than the 5.0 ltr dinosoars running now . torque would be the only issue but then variable cam timing would fix that one.
The ol lexus might not have been the fastest at the nationals this year but it sure wasn't from a lack of hp.

Nascar is the same in US. Watch the real old films of bathurst when the drivers wore suits because they were sponsored by a suit maker and when they got a flat tyre they pulled over and changed it. Great fun !

I would love to see a 300C racing down Conrod straight, get Chrysler back into it.

Apparently two companies in the US are seriously discussing a merger - GM and Chrysler. Could be that 300C will be there soon!
