Just where was that oil seal Ed? Nice authentic looking motor. Looks the 'ducks nuts' (as opposed to ARP nuts). I am travelling along a similar route and will post some pics soon too. Not as much ally on mine ,however.
Where did you get the oil pan from and does it give better clearance than the twin-sump arrangement that my 302 EFI has?
Cheers,
Merv

I have had the sump for about 25 years when I bought a motor for a T-Bucket. The engine was complete with quad IDAs and this sump so when the car gets its next new all alloy engine the IDAs will go on, dont see any problems with the sump fitment as the engine bay is very open.

It seems like everything I touch needs attention. Ball joint boots had detirorated so needed to be replaced for roadwortyness and guess what the ball joints could do with replacing and the disc is under minimum size, I just hope adjusting the handbrake doesnt follow the same path.

I only thought about this later but will your bonnet close with that terrific motor in place?
Regards.

It will fit as I measured it before it was taken out to see if the webber manifold would fit and their is about half an inch to spare. I havent checked the height if the new manifold and carby but will do that tomorrow and if its to high Ill remove the spacer

Looks like it isnt as hard as I thought it would be. Phoned Jagdaim in Melbourne and the ball joints are pretty much the same $30.00 each and we have new upper and lowers on their way.
Did a quick measure and the manifold height is 12.5" from the base to the top of the filter so it may be close but if the spacer has to go so be it

No! I want to tidy up the engine bay before it goes back in and its gotten busy again with balancing so progress is slow and I need to get the front end back together first. The front end is just about completely new by the time I finish with new Disc rotors, brake pads, ball joints, bearings and seals, shocks and springs and steering rack boots. The designer of the classic glass chassis needs a kick up the backside as the bolt thet holds the lower suspension arm cannot be removed due to the bushes for the steering rack are welded in and the bolt cant go past, thankfully the lower bushes are fine. I started to tidy up the wiring for the headlights and indicators but ended up pulling it out and will be replacing it. One step forwards two steps sideways half a step backwards.
