Been meaning to check out this magazine for a while. Does anyone know of a newsagent in Melbourne CBD or SE suburbs that has stock?
|
Sambo, any decent newsagent should have it.
Boxhead, yeah thought you would pick me out. I do apologise guys for having my head on the front cover. :D |

I look at the cover and think "Gee, Craigs big head makes that car look small, or is it that the small car makes Craig's head look big"

Picked up the March 2009 copy of the US Kit Car magazine last night. The editorial read like an obituary. This will be the last edition to be printed :(
Cheers |
I received mine in the mail a few days ago. Really hate to see it go. Ron :( |
I am confused. How many of these mags are there? There is/was the US one, the UK one (with its "Cobra" derivative) and an Oz one?
Merv |
Apparently the Aussie one is still going well,
It is only the American one that has gone belly up. |
For those interested in magazines the January issue of Octane has a segment on the "greatest race cars of all time" (the Cobra is presented) and a great article on GT40 recreations compared to an original. For the Movie buffs the 1967 movie - now available on DVD - of "A man and a woman" (yes it is a romance story!) features the Le Mans and Monte Carlo races of that year with some great racing sequences in day and night sessions with a GT 40, Mustang and even a Daytona. The film won the Cannes Film Festival award that year.

Thanks for the tip Merv. I've started downloading it (for research purposes of course). Thankfully this version has English subtitles.
Interesting that this thread has been revived today, as I just picked up a copy of the magazine. It's great to see so much of our local kit car culture in one magazine. I'll definitely be taking out a subscription! |
I swapped emails with Jim Youngs of Kit Car Builder magazine last night and KCB is still being published.
Cheers |

Kit Car magazine has ceased. |
hi craig
do u mean the us based magazine or the aussie |
Jim,
The US Kit Car magazine has ceased publication. The US Kit Car Builder magazine is still going. The Aussie Custom Kitcar Magazine is still going. Cheers |
To save confusion, the aussie one is called "Custom Kitcar".
At a guess, it will be tough times this year for Custom Kitcar. So if you want to help ensure it survives, get in there an subscribe to it. Plus it's a fantastic mag. |
Just picked up the latest copy of the Australian Custom Kitcar magazine.
I have only had a quick flick through while eating my lunch but there are a few faces and cars I recognised. Not sure if it has always been this way but appears to be a 3 monthly magazine now, Just glad to see it still being made. |
Guys
The editor?, publisher what ever actually came to our club meeting last month to say this edition would be the last via newsagencies and that there should be details within to order electronically. Evidently they are generating a large numbers of the mags but have high numbers of missing mags not accounted for through these outlets. i'm planning on buying this last edition and subscribing directly. He did also apologise for the extended publishing delay, it wasn't meant to pan out so long. We'll see when his next release actually gets out I guess. Cheers |
