Just purchased racedeck

Hi all,

Thanks to the many who helped with the black and white tile 'Thread'

PNeall - Phil's link to Geof's Garage was great.

Geof was very helpful in my selection and estimations on tiles and borders.
:3DSMILE:

Just placed an order and it arrives this coming week. So more work in the garage ahead.

The link to race deck is www.racedeck.com and the link to Geof's Garage in Australia is www.geofsgarage.com.au.

The cost is $63 per sq. and the edges are $2.50 each or $7.50 linear yard.

:)

Bernie,

I put the red and white Race Deck in my garage several years ago and have been pretty happy with it. I did get some spare squares just in case I ever have to replace one. I like the way you can put them in combinations to spell out names or anything you are artistic enough to do. Also a lot of people around here used to have enough to take to car shows and link together to park their cars on. Good luck with them.

Ron :p

Ron,

Yes will lay out a large area behind the cars and down between them. The balance is painted in an off white colour.

Have a great 2009 there Ron

Richard,

The price is just under $63 per square yard - 9 square foot of tiles.

The edge strips are $2.50 per length at 300 - 12 inches in length.

Went for the black and white with the black edge strips.

Greg,

I went for the traditional black and white and have an equal amount of each, to have checker board pattern with a black edge.

I have two PM's from forum users, who have the Racedeck down in their garage and are very happy. :3DSMILE: This was a good recommendation to go ahead.

As I said Geof was very helpful. www.geofsgarage.com.au

I've had RaceDeck in my garage for over 5 years. It's great stuff. I have the black and light silver checker board pattern. I highly recommend using light silver instead of white. This was recommend by the manufacturer. White is VERY hard to keep clean and it stains very easily.

I used black and white in my garage but did not like. I have a bus motorhome and its quite heavy, when I would pull into garage and put on brakes it would buckle, also if I wanted to turn a car to put over to one side I had the same problem. Rep sent man out and put screw in a few tiles and helped a lot, but I also did not like fact that when sun hits tile it expands and buckles up. Yes I did leave 1/2" space around edges. Maybe size of garage added to problem and I have 14' tall door opening may add to problems also. I took out and put porcelin tile 12" black and white. Best thing I did, easy to dust off, easy to wash, no movement, looks killer. Now have 2800 sq ft of race deck I don't need, $ 1.00 each to any club member you pick up or pay for shipping. If some member wants real tile I can get for $.97 each. I used 6" rubber base around walls to finish off. Bus motorhome weights 52,000 lbs aprox and is no problem driving on tiles and turning small amount.

I have the same problem with buckling but most likely it was my fault, all my boxes said to read directions inside before laying, NEVER saw any & I tried to not leave any gaps for plush look. Winter, closed doors, & no sun ='s No Problem but let it get a peek & ! Three cars in a 30'X35'. LOOKS Sharp with Black & White but I keep after kids with red wings!

Thanks for the feedback. I will use the tiles mainly in the walk out area between cars and around the bench areas.

The rest is painted in an off white/grey. With my hoist I will also be screwing/turning wheels so I thought the paint will be better here.

The main work area is painted as well. Guess the tiules are a show thing around cars and bench areas.

Thanks for the feedback.

Damn I would have the trailer over there now picking up that deck...**)

I will be using the tiles in walk areas only. I had a feeling that the work areas may be difficult to keep clean - oil, trans fluid etc.

My hoist already has tyre/tire marks under it from the scrubbing. I marked the painted floor area driving on it to early also..

Will post a picture when it is done.

Thanks again.

I can tell you another thing to watch on the flooring, I was loading my car on Kwiklift by myself for the first time, when the Excalibur got both rear tires on the short approach ramps the Positrac kicked both out & behind it & I had my Lonestar on one side & my Wifes Viper on the other. Just about a Big Mistake ! Got anti skids on those ramps now!

I've wanted Race Deck in my single stall garage for a long time but, it's pretty expensive and wish I wanted to afford it. They look fantastic.
