Default Hydraulic Internal Slave

I'm just fitting a hydraulic internal slave Its a McCleod unit. There's nothing in there to stop it turning apart from the hoses is this normal... The hoses are braided and I don't want them rubbing on the fork Hole of the Bell Housing ... Can someone Help!!!

Mark,

That doesn't sound right, the CSC needs to be retained otherwise it's going to wrap itself around the input shaft.

Found a link about removing a CSC from a Ford. Hope it's of some help.

Since we are talking about slave cylinders I thought I would ask a question. My slave cylinder, which is external, has a rod that pushes against the clutch fork. Some others I have seen have a threaded rod that goes through the fork and has locking nuts either side of the fork. Does it matter or is this a better way of doing things?

Mando,

Datsun's used a semi-spherical arrangement at the end of the pushrod that sat in a cup on the throwout lever. This worked well. Sounds much like you described.

What Detroit and it's subsidiaries use I have no idea I'm sorry.

Hi Mark,
Definitely not right, you do need to stop it from spinning. I have the Tilton set up in mine and there is a tab coming off the bearing. A bolt then goes thru the bearing tab in to the backing plate.

Nothing has come with the Kit to stop it from spinning... I'm just waiting to hear back from McCleod as to what needs to be done... Thanks again Phil

I have a Mcleod in my car and there is nothing that stops the spin. (except the hoses) I guess if the bearing freezes we will have a small problem!

Don't know if this applies to a Cobra trans, but the McLeod cylinder in my GT40 has 2 o rings that grip onto the throwout bearing 'sleeve'. This prevents rotation.

I have the same McLeod TO and just the O rings and the feed line keep it there.
The bleed line just hangs there so it's no help. Hasn't moved yet, but it did start leaking after 100 miles.

Default Clutch fork cover

I have seen some magazine articles that show guys that have made up a plate (to cover the clutch fork hole) and screwed or riveted the plate over the top. They use bulkhead fittings to pass the bleed and slave line through the plate.

I think this one is a Tilton but you'll get the idea. It's still not completely secure but better than some other methods.

I've got a McLeod, made the cover plate and used robber grommets. If I have to redo it, I'll go to bulkhead fittings as well.

That is exactly as I have done it, I did use the bulk head fittings.

Mark,

Mal Wood says the CSC they use in the T56 is bolted to the front of the gearbox, and in the TKO series boxes it floats on the front retainer and is controlled by an anti-rotator stud.

Hope that helps shed light on your problem.

Default throwout bearing anchorage

My setup is similar to Hogsters. There is a bolt through a tab sticking out the side of the TOB. The hoses are held in place with wire ties through holes in the scatter shield
