advice please newbie
Hi I am new to the forum, I am buying an unfinished project from a bloke in Queensland this kit has had beam and torsion testing done and has Ford front and rear suspension and steering . The manufacturer of the kit is no longer in business it was made by a company on the Gold Coast. The motor is in and is a 305 Chev v8 all the gear for conversion to EFI is supplied with the kit, can anyone tell me if this motor will conform to ADR and anything else that I should be aware of or be carefull about.

Welcome to the mad house Damo. What state are you from?.
Generally, all States now require late model motors like the Mod Fords (which are a little wide for some kits), or the newer Chev/holden LS76/98/LS7's.
Queensland is still accepting late models of the 5Ltr Ford. but I'm not sure for how long.
Generally you'll need to contact an approved engineer and follow his advice.
When you say made on the gold coast and no longer in Business Do you mean the DeType?. If so then there is a version of it being made elsewhere in Queensland called the King Cobra so you should be OK for special bits etc.
One of the members on here is building one and is also a King Cobra agent. His Nick is Hogster and this is a link to his photo gallery.

Do a search on his nick and you'll find some of his posts.

First: Change your name. Damo is way too close to Jamo.
Second: that Cheby in the Ford thingy will most likely have some of us questioning a few things.
So, welcome home and glad to have you.

Damo, You prolly dont understand what trularin said above but it refers to a moderator on here called Jamo.
Jamo has both a reputation and an attitude.
Take no notice regarding the chev comment. Heaps of Aussies are running chevs because they comply and fit.

Damo, from your profile looks like you are in QLD.
That engine the way it is will not comply in QLD. It's needs to be a unmodified production engine. In QLD you need a ADR 37/01 emissions compliant engine. To play it safe, that means an Aussie 1999 or later engine, or 1990 onwards USA engine.
Or you can run any engine on LPG and they can be approved. So you could LPG that Chev.
Before buying the kit I would get a copy of the paperwork including chassis testing stuff and contact an approved QLD Trans engineer to see if it can be complied here. I can PM you an engineers name & contact details if it helps.
Oh and welcome, you've come to the right place for advice. Enjoy the ride.

Thanks guys for the advice,I am in Cairns Queensland, yes it is the De type Cobra do you know the history of this company. However its good to know there is another similar version " king Cobra" as I was a bit concerned about finding special bits that fit.
Looks like I will probably be up for a new motor for a start but will check with an engineer here in Cairns.

Yeah, I knew you were trularin and I left the door open for you to have some fun.
Tis a pain not being allowed to use the Windsor anymore but the chevs sure do perform.

It could be an 'up-side-down' thingy.
I am waiting for Bernie to pop in.
