SD5805 03-05-2010 09:18 PM

Guys I'm thinking of a couple of attractions for the kick off ride in late April. 1. Basic ct run through Fairfield. County to up state and for a stop or two for some chow.
2. A limerock run for a nice ride and racing spectating
3. A RI Newport mansions sight seeing tour
4. Ct castle run
5. FFR Ma run for factory tour
6.other
Just some ideas all are welcome.

My vote:
No. 3
No. 4

I live in Newport, but the roads aren't as fun/as nice as East Haddam CT.

SD5805 03-07-2010 05:47 PM

Taking the wife so the sight seeing would be nice

Bob In Ct 03-07-2010 06:18 PM

Other than Route 1, Rhode Island does not have best roads for Cobras. Newport is a long way from home should there be a chance of rain.

we'll always check the weather. I too heard the the roads were not cobra friendly.

I like to drive so the distance dosen't bother me, After all thats what theses cars are made for.

I also found that there will be a Car show in Norwalk, CT in April at their Calfs Pasture. This is always a well attended show and I may consider this event for the Kick Off ride as well.

SD5805 03-14-2010 02:04 PM

calfs pasture car show run

Sun April 25 8-3pm calfs pasture judged car show Norwalk Ct Save the date as we kick off the spring cobra ride event with a ride to one of the most popular car shows in fairfield county. Having a good showing of cobras on this day will be awsome especially arriving as a group. Also this event is open to all our friends who whish to come with us having different cars vettes, chevys, caddy you name it, lets get it on.

Meeting points and times to follow. Those of you north of Notwalk,ct and those south of Norwalk will have differ meeting points for convience then a central meeting point so we can make a grand enterance

Details forthcoming stay tuned and get those cars ready.

Car show defeats the purpose of driving, but a nice way to get started... dropped Phil's car off in Haddam yesterday and have to say a run over by Gillete Castle and the Goodspeed would be a nice drive.

Lessons I learned:

1.) Keep it casual.
2.) Under 2 hours.
3.) Forget car shows unless they are the end of the run and people can just leave.
4.) Has to be dry weather for 2 days in advance with virtually no chance of rain day of.
5.) If food is involved have it to start or end.
6.) Wrap up 2 hours or so before dusk.
7.) Minimize traffic lights and stop signs as much as possible on selected route.
8.) Not a race.

East Haddam is known for its roads and lack of stop lights.... and woods... and deer...

OK dad:) Guys, your getting way too technical
This is by far one event of many, those of you who wish not to attend dont have to. We can plan for an actual ride at another time.
keep it simple. All are welcome to a nice event. No pressure only fun.

I like the idea of a short two hour run east of the river. Sounds good, I'm in if you can put it together. I heard it's nice up at Gillette Castle.
