New Ford Coyote 5.0 in Backdraft

The factory is offering this install option now. It not only looks amazing in the car but the numbers and performance look to back it up. Further info soon:

HOLY SCHNICKES!! Wow, that might me just leave my little FIA!! Where's the info, you can't leave us all hanging like this!! I need a cold shower now!

bran3b 09-28-2010 07:41 AM

will they trade one of those for my 460/Midstates? that looks incredible!

FIA-ERA 09-28-2010 08:17 AM

Hey Brandon back off!! I was here first! Just kidding. I really love the look of this car. It's just so sinister looking and evil. I could get rid of all my polishing compounds! Can I get it with radar deflecting paint? Come on Jay, spill the beans!!

Rick Parker 09-28-2010 08:38 AM

Nice engine, looks good but doesn't belong. Sort of like getting a boob job for a 6th grader.

FIA-ERA 09-28-2010 08:43 AM

Hey Rick I agree but it does have a certain evilness. I'm all old school but just came from an open track day with a lot of newer Z06's and new Camaro stuff. The performance of those cars was unreal! I was riding around in a 65 Shelby road race car and there's no comparison! Except coolness factor and we had them all beat! Matt

Jay,
Cool. That's the probably the future of the hobby with the green movement taking over.

SoTxButler 09-28-2010 09:58 AM

Kinda makes one want to rethink the whole thing.

runners reminds me yamaha v6 on '90s ford taurus svo

Looks cool Jay! Now, Ford needs to get going with a E-ROD type offering for those who want or must have a smog compliant powertrain.

DrivinWest 09-28-2010 12:17 PM

This engine has made me rethink my Cobra plans.

The Coyote weights 444lbs and puts out 414hp stock. Not too shabby!

madmaxx 09-28-2010 12:21 PM

Cool!! It appears you guys are going anti-shine, anti-chrome, anti-polished. Can you get a car painted in the black textured truck bedliner paint should be durable.

henrik 09-28-2010 01:00 PM

Wow

That is a very nice looking engine - the details are so nice :)

BUT... if I were to go with that look a Lingenfelter LS7 or the new LS9 would make the performance even more fantastic %/

More importantly....How does it sound !!!

gsharapa 09-28-2010 04:59 PM

Ford now offers bolt on supercharger for this engine that takes it up into the mid 600 hp.

I have been to Custom Cars/Speed Fanatix a few times over the past month while buying my new BDR and have seen Reg and crew working feverishly to shoehorn the coyote inside the cobra's mouth
Believe me when I tell you that this first install has probably cost them over $50k in labor alone to accomplish but it has come out quite nicely! I was there yesterday and the BDR looked really wicked!
At the end of the day, no matter what one may think is the "proper" engine for a cobra, I personally believe they are smart for taking the time, money and trouble to accomplish this engine install at this time because sooner or later this may be a matter of survival for their company: As a business they have to get ready for tougher emissions regs which are sure to come to the USA just as they already have in Canada and Europe; for now I'll enjoy my carburated, gas guzzling, burbling, firing spitting old school V8  but if the day comes when I'm no longer allowed to use it on the street then a coyote might very well be in my cobra's dinner menu ...**)

I love the Coyote, it is going to be the next generation hot engine for sure. Gonna get one eventually.

Sorry, I've been out of pocket with the move and some other things that came up. This engine package is the future from a couple angles. We can all love and appreciate the nostalgia of a pushrod Ford etc. but there is room for a new take on the cars we worship. There are so many positives to this engine package from a performance, price, and emissions angle that we need to continue looking at these modern alternatives.

Glad everyone is enjoying the development for the most part. The car is on display now at Road Atlanta and then will likely show up in some magazines etc. On the back end the factory is gearing up for the install option and it will continue to evolve...

Now if you want to get really excited about something take a look at the potential with this: http://www.fordracingparts.com/parts...KeyField=12402
