VMS / COYOTE 5.0 Install Complete

Finishing touches completed on John's Backdraft with the new 2011 Coyote 5.0 installed. What a fantastic car. We are waiting on the truck now and have minor detail items to complete. Here are some engine shots, followed by a YouTube video if you would like to hear how it runs from the driver seat. I usually put 30 miles tops on a test drive, sorry John you got 70ish ... :D

......nice.......

blykins 07-18-2011 05:41 PM

C'mon man, I watched over 2 minutes of that and you didn't even nail it once....:p

You gotta have respect for the power that these engines make for the small displacement, but I tell ya, I miss the nasty cammy sounds of a nice carb'd V8.

Ditto, that cam sound is what I love most about the cobra, especially a solid cam.

Looks and sounds sweet!

I am looking forward to finishing up my build... :D

Cashburn 07-18-2011 07:51 PM

A future tune available from Ford Racing will provide that sound. This new engine is so advanced you can dial anything, VCT etc.

I threw that video up, I have a bunch of footage that I hope to splice together. The way this thing runs from 4800 - 7500 is unreal. We are also swapping to 3.91 rear to compliment the T56 Magnum.

It is scary quiet when you coast it though.

fordracing65 07-18-2011 08:07 PM

The ghost tune will add that sound,(its available now), all the Ford dohc motors rev like crazy, mine spins so fast I'm popping off the rev limiter all the time. These motors do best when sprayed or forced induction, then the animal really comes out, hence the coyote.

Cashburn 07-18-2011 08:51 PM

Nope, all ghost tunes have been halted...

fordracing65 07-18-2011 09:06 PM

I wonder if it was damaging the engine somehow, hopefully they will release the track key soon, anyway ford hit a home run with the DOHC platform, it will only get better.

Chaplin 07-18-2011 09:12 PM

Nice. Sounds good.

letsboogie351 07-19-2011 02:50 AM

sweet music to my ears! I could listen to that coyote howl all night long

mpanten 07-19-2011 07:53 AM

would a whipple or kenne bell supercharger fit under there?

That will be a very tough combination to beat. I had a kenne bell in my mustang and was very impressed with both the power and driveability. Is that 11:1 compression going to be an issue for pump gas and a blower?

No it makes adjustments to overcome it. The best option now is the SC ready Coyote crate from Ford Racing with all the forged goodness...

This one as a N/A alone is great. The reality is 420HP at the wheels +/- with all the emissions controls etc. gone from the Mustang.

This is the future of replicas. Bullet proof reliability, no gas smell, easy starting and 20mpg?. What a ballpark engine and install price for the coyote??

Approx. 19k. There's a lot more to the install and until some components for it become readily available the fab and labor is higher than a 351W style install.

I believe 30mpg is more than possible.

[ We are also swapping to 3.91 rear to compliment the T56 Magnum.

What is the standard supplied ratio??

Was there a reason the use the T56 Magnum, Future power upgrades maybe?

cheers

SpecOp1 07-19-2011 11:32 AM

Oh Yeah!

:D...On order through Reg and the gang...that was fun to watch....same sound on my test drive...can hold a conversation and then hit it....best of both worlds....thanks for the post, will be watching as you mod this this engine in the future.....Bill
