BDR1085 - Ready to go ... Coyote 5.0

Finally got the time after all those pushrod builds to put the finishing touches on BDR1085. Indigo Blue with White Stripes; very "traditional"... except for that Ford Racing Coyote 5.0 crate engine and Tremec T-56 Magnum 6 speed under there. We finished this one to run with that modern powerplant, 17" Wheels with Nitto tires, mirrors that work, tonneau cover, and other details. Hope to get some drive time soon. But here's a few shots and a startup video... needs a home.

Very nice Jay! You guys did a great job. Might be an optical illusion but that shifter looks pretty far back.

Must be the angle. It's relatively forward...

CHANMADD 01-06-2012 07:52 PM

That looks supurb,....how many Bhp and whats the redline on those motors?

pjmoore2003 01-06-2012 10:02 PM

Jay, any Boss builds coming? My favorite engine now...

peters44 01-07-2012 05:09 AM

Jay that engine looks and sounds nice.
What kind of HP and torque are you getting out of it.

Peter

Dyno shows these at 420 to the tires. Have not tried a Boss version because the price difference does not make sense for this install with a custom tune. I like the potential of the new Aluminator 5.0 offerings though. We have a potential customer in MA that may go this route but the clock is ticking on registrations in MA.

You can wind these out to about 7500 or so rpm. Cold roads so I have not gone beyond 5500 today. Working on a drive video now.

Would this set up meet current tailpipe emission standards? Where is the catalytic converter? I know it is not politically correct on CC, but wonder what kind of gas mileage you would get. What a beauty!

We have a little different configuration if emissions tests are needed. The factory has a sidepipe with internal cats and we have to run a different tune but it will work.

I don't see why 44mpg is not realistic at highway speeds.

SinCityJets 01-07-2012 09:45 PM

I can tell you that on my first FULL tank of gas, I got an average of 15.6 MPG. I think 20-25MPG is a little more realistic for freeway driving, after break-in.

I have the same engine, over 6g miles, best I got was 26mpg, 6 speed, 44mpg is laughable. This isnt a prius. Looks good.

We've gotten 28mpg with a Roush 342R...

Great Car, what ratios are in the T56 magnum, and rear end diff? Is 8 stack ez efi available for the Coyote yet?
cheers

kanuck 01-08-2012 04:17 AM

The boss intake is suppose to be a good bolt on they say 50hp plus.

Cashburn 01-08-2012 08:51 AM

This car sports a 3.46 rear ratio, I plan to swap it to 3.91 LSD if the customer wants. The Magnum is a .7 .5 unit if my memory is working today.

The Boss intake gives up some torque, and I'd like to keep it.

Cashburn 01-08-2012 08:53 AM

Eight Stack has a Coyote kit in development ... Yes we look forward to that as well.

You also loose 30 foot pounds of tq, not a good move for the street, tq gets the car going hp keeps it there. It does look cool though.

B.M.B.C 01-08-2012 11:19 AM

I know that Hollywood Hot Rods built the Raybestos 32 Ford and re-machined some 427 sohc cammer rocker covers for the Coyote. With a 8 stack system that would look awesome under the hood of a Cobra...

I switched to a 3.91, it is a must, the car falls flat in 3rd gear if you dont, fuel milage was not a affected, tell your customer it will be his best upgrade, it keeps that engine in the sweet spot at all rpm's.
