Need 17" Wheels

I'm looking for a set of used 17" wheels to use with track tires on my Backdraft next season.

18's won't do me any good as you have to change the front hub/spindle to run them which would make it impossible to run my street tires on the 17's I have now.

Thanks,
Kevin.....

hmmm, the 18's I got from Backdraft (Halibrand style) fit my hubs that came stock on the car with the original BDR 17 inch Halibrand style. I think its the Shelby ARE 18 and 17's from BDR that use the different front hub.

You are correct Mark, after seeing your email I emailed Reg Dodd for a clarification on the 17" wheel fitment issue. Turns out there were two types of 17's, if you have the American Racing version you must change the hub/spindle. If you do NOT have the American Racing version you do not have to change the hub/spindle.

Hi Kevin,

The American racing wheels are a 2 piece construction. Essentially a barrel with a welded center. They also have Shelby on the face of the rim.

The difference in the fit meant is that the American racing wheels use the same peg drive front and rear while the BDR wheels have a different peg drive front and rear. The difference is the depth of the shoulder on the peg drive. The BDR wheel has a long shoulder on the front and short on the rear. The American Racing uses a short in the front and rear.

All BDR wheels and all American Racing wheels are the same in 15,17,18. If you had a set of each , you would need to switch the front peg drives when switching wheels.

I hope this helps to explain the difference.

Regards Reg Dodd

MMM, after reading your post carefully. Are the wheels you are after, bolt on or peg drive?
