Can you give me a least until April/May to get the car and put a few thousand miles on it before you show up at my door to take the keys? ;) p.s. I checked out your BDR (here's the link to VMS's photos - The Gallery / Roadsters / BDR1240 | \\VINTAGE MOTORSPORTS ). Sick car!! |

---------- Trust me, I've searched through the entire internets to find every picture and video of my Cobra that exists. Btw, I left the number 6 on the side of the car for a total of eight hours before taking the heat gun to it; I was very thankful that it was only vinyl (one of the key questions I had before purchasing the car). I'm envious of your Vette too. The first car I ever bought was a 2006 LMB (best color available) Vette. I did FBO followed by a D1SC within the first two months. It was a fun car for a 20 year old. |

Speaking of the vette, my new N/A heart is pumping. [ame]https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=9jORiOlIHNw[/ame] Can't wait to get it in the car with some forced air and nitrous.... |
Snailing along..
Small update - ECU installed, remote clutch master cylinder installed, aluminum fuel tank coated black and installed, roller rear trailing arm bushing installed. Still waiting on other shops to come through with special order items that invariably hold things up. Happy St. Patty's Day all :)

Breaking out the Brakes
While we are waiting for the go fast parts, VMS is making sure Mayhem can stop just as well.

Dash attack
And here's a view of the dash... whole-lotta-info provided in a tight space. Jay at VMS came up with a great gauge cluster

10 lbs of fun in a 5 lb bag
VMS has started the test fit, re-fit, do-it-again-fit, process. First of many engine installs to make sure everything likes each other :MECOOL:

Looks great. I'm curious how tight the fitment will be once the hood shuts. That blower seems to sit high but maybe it's just how it looks like in the pic.

If it's too close ,just take a langer scoop

Updates?

Welcome to another episode Mayhem...
I almost can't believe it, but seeing is believing - that dang engine and supercharger ARE going to fit under the hood. Miracles, they do happen :) http://i235.photobucket.com/albums/e...ps72j3esze.jpg http://i235.photobucket.com/albums/e...psjvfotsph.jpg http://i235.photobucket.com/albums/e...psgqgnzwfx.jpg Cockpit is shaping up too - I'm really digging the dash layout that Jay suggested. In addition to the typical gauges, I had Jay add boost and fuel pressure gauges, which in my experience provide important information for forced induction engines. http://i235.photobucket.com/albums/e...ps7zeswgwi.jpg http://i235.photobucket.com/albums/e...ps3hw70ire.jpg http://i235.photobucket.com/albums/e...ps5nfuoozp.jpg While not as sexy as the engine and dash, functional side mirrors are still important, and blacked out they just look 'right'. http://i235.photobucket.com/albums/e...psossffauq.jpg http://i235.photobucket.com/albums/e...pshktn8pv5.jpg |
Details, details, details..
Small update - the build continues. As it gets closer to the end of the tunnel, the devil is in the details and those details take so much time, especially to the level that VMS will sign off on. Without further delay..here are some pictures:
Some trick headlights are going in http://i235.photobucket.com/albums/e...pscj6xyq8g.jpg http://i235.photobucket.com/albums/e...psryjgh3eb.jpg I'm really liking the lines of the car and look at those meaty rears! http://i235.photobucket.com/albums/e...pso6oc1p4h.jpg Some of the devilish details.. http://i235.photobucket.com/albums/e...psvzf5fnbk.jpg Ginormous intercooler signals that summin' is up - but black it out and Bruce Wayne steps in http://i235.photobucket.com/albums/e...ps3wfbs4zc.jpg |
New member here, but just wanted to compliment you on your beautiful build. It looks like it's going to be a beast. Just curious why you went with the standard throttle body over the 132mm eliptical one. This seems like you're going to be after big numbers and the standard TB is leaving a lot of ponies on the table.

Welcome to the club, Ragtop! Thanks for the nice words. We decided to do a direct front feed air bridge instead of the larger elliptical, side twisting set up. To accomplish that we need to go the standard round TB for space purposes. The engine will be much cleaner looking in my opinion. Front http://i235.photobucket.com/albums/e...pstgvbkery.jpg Side http://i235.photobucket.com/albums/e...ps01c8rf6i.jpg At the power levels I think VMS will get my car to, the loss of some hp/tq shouldn't be that big of a deal. Plus, without a stand along EMS that has true traction and slip control, I suspect the I'll have traction issues with what the smaller round TB will provide. Only time will tell. Do you own/plan on owning a Cobra? If so, would love to hear about it. John p.s. are you on the Corvette forums at all? Your user name seems familiar. |
Pre-delivery purchases...
While progress on the build is happening, there isn't much photographic updates to provide yet. So, how does one fill in that void...buy stuff in anticipation of the delivery...
