Welcome to the club, Ragtop! Thanks for the nice words. We decided to do a direct front feed air bridge instead of the larger elliptical, side twisting set up. To accomplish that we need to go the standard round TB for space purposes. The engine will be much cleaner looking in my opinion

Do you own/plan on owning a Cobra? If so, would love to hear about it.

John

p.s. are you on the Corvette forums at all? Your user name seems familiar.

No, I've never been on the corvette forums. I lurk a little on the Mustang boards.
I resurrected my name from the Mustangworld days in the 90's. I had a Paxton on my 95 vert. That was back when if you put 300hp to the ground you were a street player. Oh, have times changed! Been getting the itch to get back into the game. Thinking about getting a Whipple on a Mustang GT for awhile. Just recently, I realized a Cobra might be a better option because either would be a weekend/fair weather car.

The whipple looks gorgeous in your configuration. Congrats on a well researched and planned build!

Just need a little room

To make great something that is good, you must tear it down and build it back up....

Because I insisted on making this one of "those" builds, I knew there would be areas into the unknown we'd go (at least for me). I was correct. Loving what will be the symmetrical appearance of the engine bay when the required tanks etc. are installed with the front mount air intake, an issue came up about clearance. VMS reworked the engine mounts and all other sorts of modifications to make the intrusion as minimal as possible. They did it. This is going to be stealth but menacing when done. Well done VMS!

Now, hood is off to the magicians at the paint shop and VMS will turn now to getting the engine running. Things are getting interesting!

The build continues...

While the paint shop is working their magic on the modified hood, VMS is moving ahead with the build..

Now that's a cool (pun intended) grill. VMS's custom work at its finest

It's the things you don't see that you should most appreciate.

Trick oil cooler

Making sure the fluids flow right

The torque twist from this engine deserves extra bracing. I hadn't thought about it and VMS did this because it's the correct thing to do. At every turn VMS is impressing me.

Zeke - you're absolutely correct. Love your set up. How are you liking the car? John

Zeke 06-29-2017 06:10 AM

Its awesome! These cars are rare around here. Everywhere I go, everyone wants to see it! So far I have taken it to Watkins Glen International Speedway(opening week end), the track is open to the general public for moderate laps. There were hundreds of cars there, but mine was the only Cobra. The track officials absolutely loved it! I've been to 3 car shows and I've won best in show 2x's! I have another show this week end!

I've been watching the progress of your build and I must admit that car is going to be sick!! Mine dyno'd @ 494RWHP, I cant imagine what yours will register! I don't have the RWHP that you'll have, but mine is enough! All I can say is just be careful, and I'm sure you will be! Anyways keep us posted on your build and I will as well! Would love to hook up with you and others some day!
